Name: Anja Zeidler
Style: Bikini Competitor
How did you get started with Fitness?
I was always a very energetic kid but never cared that much for sport. That all suddenly changed by the age of 18. I spent 4 months in beautiful California and ate “waaayyyy tooo muuuch” Californian-food. I became “pretty chubby” to say it nicely.
When I got back home to Switzerland I wanted to make a complete livestyle-change. My dream was to work as a model and I knew that I need to be in outstanding shape for that. I decided to work hard and get the best shape of my life! I wanted it so bad and got addicted to the whole fitness-lifestyle. Now, I can’t imagine a life without clean eating and weightlifting!
Where does your motivation come from?
I am basically my own motivation. It’s all about “how bad do you want it”! Nothing is impossible! I got the proof! My transformation-pictures show me everyday what I can! So there’s no stopping now, I’ll keep going and improve myself everyday.
I don’t have a role-model that I wanna copy, I want to be the best version of myself, but there are some amazing fitness-models I look up to. For example Larissa Reis, Ana Delia de Itturondo or Michelle Lewin. They inspire me!
What’s your workout routine at the moment?
Normally, I have a restday. But at the moment, I cant be even one day without my training. I like to experiment, change and try out new things and methods. My actual routine looks like this:
Which diet routine has worked best for yourself?
I get very good results with my lowcarb/highprotein system. I never leave my house without my Tupperware and I make sure that I eat every 3 hours. I cycle my carbohydrates. For example, I have protein-porridge as my first meal of the day and some sweet-potatoes, rice-crackers, quinoa or brown rice for my pre-workout. At the moment I eat tonnes of chicken and tuna several times a day. I choose green vegetables over all the others and make sure that I get some good fats from avocados, almonds or fish oil-capsules. Once a week I have a high carb day on which I keep my fats low.
What are your favourite quotes?
“You don’t have to be great to start, you have to start to be great!”
“Skinny girls look good in clothes, athletic girls look HOT naked!”
What mistakes did you make when first starting out?
At the very beginning, nearly 2 years ago, I forgot to eat regularly, ate too many carbohydrates and chose the wrong fats. I also ate a lot of milk products. I found out that I got much leaner and feel much better when I dropped them.
What are your short term and long term goals?
My legs and glutes are my strongest parts and my weak-point, in my opinion are my shoulders. I’m working very hard on them at the moment to balance them out. If I want something, I fight for it until I got it. So I know myself I’ll get there very quickly.
My long term goal is to step on stage as a Bikini-class-girl. I’m very ambitious and have super high demands to myself, that’s why I take my time with that. If I come to the decision that I’m ready to step on stage, then I will be more than 100% ready for it! All or nothing! I still need a bit of time. In Switzerland I am already pretty famous as a model. I would love to set foot in America as a fitness model for sure!
How long do you spend in the gym during a typical workout?
I warm up 10minutes with some exercises such as: burpees, mountain climbers, jumping jacks and some stretching. Right after that I workout 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the body-part I train.
How do you deal with cravings for junk foods, salty foods and sweets?
That’s pretty simple: The less of that stuff I eat – the less I crave it! But I must say I like sweets, pizzas and burgers. Once in a while I do a cheat day and if I do that, I do it right! That means I eat way too much of all that stuff that I don’t even want to look at it for the next weeks! There are very good replacements for sweets. Did you ever bake protein muffins? They taste delicious and don’t include any sugar, white flour or all these unhealthy ingredients. You can bake them easily for example using only egg whites, almondflour, chocolate-flavoured protein powder and some natural peanut butter.

The best decision I’ve ever made was to start working out. I will never let myself go and stop my amazing livestyle. I live it to the fullest and can’t imagine a day without fitness. I think it’s so sad to see all the girls out there, starving and trying to get skinny. That’s not only unhealthy, its in my opinion also unattractive and terrible. I really wanna change these girls minds! There’s nothing sexier than a athletic, fit and healthy feminine body!
I appreciate that I’m already a role model for many girls out there. It makes me indescribable happy to hear sentences like: “Anja you inspired me to start and motivate me to keep going”. I really love to be a inspiration and help others to get on the right way and reach their full potential. I remember when I started and admired other girls from my gym. It proves me that my hard work finally payed off when people start to ask me for advice and I’m having this interview here.
