Before and After
Name: Jamie Best
Weight: 114lbs to 103lbs
What made you transform your body?
I started training by running and doing press ups but I never really changed my diet. I built up an awesome fitness base but I never really noticed physically a change. When I went to Police College in 2008 I weighed 51kg
In 2011 I started going out with Josef Rakich – Online personal trainer – www.josefrakichfitness.com. He used to go to the gym 5-6 days a week so I started going along as well. I learnt heaps of fitness stuff and started really enjoying going to the gym. I started lifting weights which was the BEST thing I ever started doing.
I decided that I wanted to really start dedicating my life to the gym and wanted to see what I could achieve with some hard work and dedication.
I saw a photo of myself in 2011 and I didn’t like what I saw so it really inspired me to make a change and stop making excuses. Josef helped me out heaps by giving me advice and feeding me daily with different types of vitamins etc. some I had never heard of.
How did you accomplish your goals?
I started to train 5 days a week. At first if I’m honest I made excuses now and then but would definitely train at least 3 days a week. Then I started to compete in Bikini Competitions and met some really amazing girls who had awesome bodies so then the challenge was on and I started competing with myself to get better and better my competition results time and time again.
“My lifestyle and perception changed” I don’t like the word diet. .I still eat the foods I love but in moderation and to be honest my taste buds have completely changed now and I no longer enjoy or crave take-aways at all.
The food I couldn’t live without now is – PROOATS with frozen berries! I crave this. I have them every day sometimes even twice a day. I don’t believe in cheat meals I believe in IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) (Protein, Carbs, Fats) then eat it.
What did you find the most challenging aspect?
The most challenging aspect was deciding to change. I guess at first I was in denial because I was used to seeing my body every day. I have never been unhappy with my body but after I started training I WOULD NEVER LOOK BACK!
At first I craved things like chocolate and takeaways but now I actually can’t think of anything worse than eating a greasy pizza or a fried piece of chicken. My taste buds have changed for the better. It’s definitely about training your MIND.
I love competing. I competed last month in the Miss extreme bikini ring girl of the year competition and was totally stoaked to place first! There were so many other amazing girls so it was a huge accomplishment for me. I have competed in lots of bikini competitions including the optimum fitness model of the year 2013 competition where I was honoured to place 10th out of 50 girls. I have also placed 1st runner up in Miss Bikini November 2012 and again 1st runner up and people’s choice in Miss Bikini January 2013.
I am currently preparing to compete in my first NZIFBB competition at the end of September.
My lifestyle how it is now is the BEST in my opinion that it has ever been.
Any motivation tips for people who want to transform their body?
The hardest part is starting, Consistency is key and the results you achieve will stay with you for a lifetime. Its not always about being the best or coming first in a competition in my opinion its about being consistent with something that works for you and achieving what makes YOU happy.
What’s life been like after your transformation?
Life is great. I feel better; I’m more confident, I’m happier and I have way more energy and motivation. I’m also dedicated more than ever to keep improving because no one is perfect and there is always room to better yourself ?
I have lots of awesome supporters on my facebook fitness page “Jamie Best Fitness” facebook.com/JamieBestFitness & lots of awesome instagram supporters. Josef Rakich (Online personal trainer/Love of my life)– www.josefrakichfitness.com is an awesome boyfriend and supports me 100 percent in everything I do. He has taught me loads and for that I thank him. I definitely do not listen to “Bro Science” and I’m a firm believer that you should listen to what your body is telling you. I hate seeing girls at the gym running on the treadmill for hours and telling me they don’t eat any carbohydrates but aren’t losing weights. CARBS ARE NOT THE ENEMY. I eat carbs in 3 out of my 6 meals and I definitely think that’s the biggest mistake a lot of girls are making because by eating such small amounts they are destroying there metabolism.
Im so much stronger now than I have ever been before. Both mentally and physically. I squat heavier than my bodyweight by almost 15kg. I lift heavier than I have ever before and I love setting new goals for myself.
