The 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia took place on May 3rd in Riga. It was a single-day competition consisting of five events and a total of 12 competitors from all around the globe. After a full day of action, Aivars Šmaukstelis was the one who came out victorious.
Aivars Šmaukstelis had an amazing showing at the 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia, finishing in the top three across all but one event. Moreover, he won three events and achieved a tally of 53 points. That being said, Aivars ended up beating his closest rival by a margin of 5.5 points.

Event One — Truck Pull
In the first event of the 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia, the athletes had a task of pulling a truck of unknown weight for a distance of 20 meters. They had only one goal, and that was to use any means necessary in order to finish the event in the shortest time possible.

Audrius Jokūbaitis was convincingly the fastest man when it came to the truck pull. He crossed the finish line in 28.22 seconds, and was the only man that managed to finish in under half a minute.
The second place went to Patrick Eibel, who finished three seconds after Audrius Jokūbaitis with a time of 31.03 seconds. Kelvin de Ruiter wrapped up the top three in the opening event of the competition, beating Jesper Hansson by just 0.40 seconds to secure his spot.

Event Two — Log Press
The second event of the 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia was another iconic strongman event in the form of a Log Press. In this instance, the athletes all had a turn in lifting a 150-kilogram (330.7-pound) implement. They were given a time cap of 60 seconds during which they tried to lock out as many reps as possible.
Aivars Šmaukstelis put in an incredible performance in front of his home crowd, taking the event win with a score of nine repetitions. This helped him get back in the title race.
Interestingly, all three Latvian representatives at the competition found themselves at the top of the leaderboard. The second place went to Māris Krievelis with 8 eight reps, while seven reps were enough for Didzis Zariņš to finish third.

Event Three — Sandbag Toss
The Sandbag Toss marked the midway point of the competition, challenging the athletes with a quick and explosive event. It consisted of six bags, starting at 20-kg (44-lb) and finishing at 30-kg (66.1-lb), while the beam was set to a height of 4.3 meters. The goal was to finish before other athletes.
Aivars Šmaukstelis claimed his second consecutive event victory and continued his charge toward the title. He finished the entire event in just 17.79 seconds, narrowly beating two other competitors.
Peter Juhász had to settle for second, getting close to first place but missing out due to a 0.41 second margin. Patrick Eibel was not far behind either, finishing in a time of 19.14 seconds and securing third place.

Event Four — Loading Race
The fourth and penultimate event of the 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia was a Loading Race. It consisted of multiple sandbags and a tire, with the weight ranging from 120-kg (264.6-lb) and 160-kg (352.7-lb). The competitors had 60 seconds to complete the event, but also raced each other to determine who the fastest was.
No athlete managed to finish the entire event, as the majority was unable to load the last implement. So, it came down to who had the quickest time in relation to the completion of the third implement. That turned out to be Péter Juhász with a time of 23.94 seconds.
Audrius Jokūbaitis was just marginally slower, resulting in a second-place finish for him. On the other hand, Aivars Šmaukstelis managed to make his way into a very valuable third place with a time of 25.62 seconds.

Event Five — Atlas Stones
As is the standard in the majority of competitions, the 2025 Strongman Champions League Latvia wrapped up with the Atlas Stones. Featuring a total of six stones weighing from 100-kg (220.5-lb) to 200-kg (440.9-lb), the event tasked the athletes with loading massive boulders onto their respective platforms. Time was once again key, as the goal was to finish the event before other athletes.
Aivars Šmaukstelis needed a decent performance to confirm his overall victory. However, he exceeded the requirement, taking the win in the Atlas Stones to leave no doubt about who the champion is. Aivars finished the entire event in 48.14 seconds.
Aivars’ fellow countryman, Didzis Zariņš, grabbed second place with a time of 55.42 seconds. Consequently, Jesper Hansson settled for third place as the only other man to completely finish the event.
