How did you get started with fitness/bodybuilding?
I discovered my passion for fitness 4 years ago. About 2 years ago I was approached in a club and asked if I would like to start competing, it was around this time I had started working with my current trainer and coach Alex Stampoulidis. To this day, Alex advises me on my diet, workout regimes and prepares me for my competitions.
Where does your motivation come from?
My biggest motivation is myself; I’m very critical of myself as I always believe I can be better. This encourages me and gives me the necessary motivation.
How does it feel when you’re on stage competing?
Before I ascend to the stage I’m always nervous but when I get out on the stage all my nerves disappear and I really enjoy it, it’s a lot of fun. During my performance I focus on the judges and the audience but everything is over quickly.
Which working program has given you the best results?
The working program I use is tailor made for me by my coach. I work out 5 times a week using a split program. I usually like to train within the 8-12 rep range. A tip I liked to give to females, don’t be afraid of heavy weights! This type of body can only be achieved through straight training. The best results are obtained through a lot of discipline, ambition and perseverance.
What diet plan has given you the best results?
The most important thing is to keep a disciplined diet, both in the off-season and when you’re supposed to be strict. The only difference between my normal dieting and off-season is that in the off season my carbohydrate content is higher. This allows me to have more strength whilst working out which enables me to grow better muscles. When I’m not preparing for a competition I allow myself one cheat day, where I like to indulge a little. The 3 months building up to a competition I won’t allow myself a cheat day.
How much time do you spend in the gym?
I usually train 5 times a week and each workout is usually around 1-2 hours.
How does it feel to know you inspire so many people?
It’s an incredible feeling; I often get messages on my Facebook from other women who want to know how to transform their bodies. This makes me very pleased and it gives me motivation. At the same time, it is very difficult because there is no “secret”, everybody is different and reacts differently to training and nutrition. I always try to give those people useful tips and good motivation for their goals.
What is your proudest achievement?
Every individual and small success I achieve makes me very proud and motivations me. My greatest achievement was definitely winning the overall in the Bikini Class at the International German Championship December 2012. I was able to achieve this in my first season as a newcomer.
Do you have any short-term or long-term goals?
My plans for 2013 are to compete in the Arnold Classic Europe in Madrid and the World Championships in Kiev. In the long term I would like to participate in other international competitions.
