The 2023 CrossFit Games champion, Jeffrey Adler, came to the Rogue Invitational with one goal, and that is to win the title. So, he approached the first event strategically and won the maximum points after a late push to first place. His final time to finish the workout was 19 minutes and eight seconds.
Jelle Hoste led the race for the majority of it and even had a very large lead at some point. However, it seemed that he burned out after a while, meaning he had no chance of defending his lead when Adler turned up the pace. However, no other athletes managed to catch up with Hoste, making him the second-place finisher. Roman Khrennikov also claimed solid points with a third place finish and a time of 19 minutes and 31 seconds.

While the first event was based on running, it proved to be more than a test of endurance. Due to the weight that was carried, the leg strength of the athletes also played a big role in performing well. This worked well for Tia-Clair Toomey, whose experience and abilities allowed her to dominate the first event of the 2023 Rogue CrossFit Invitational. Toomey finished with a time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds, having controlled her pace perfectly.
Gabriela Migała held close to Tia-Clair during the first mile and a half of the race. However, she was not able to keep up on the final portion, ultimately finishing in second place with a time of 20 minutes and 37 seconds. Emily Rolfe finished in third by outperforming Laura Horvath in a battle that lasted throughout the majority of the workout.
