The 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK is one of the sport’s biggest competitions of the season, and it took place on March 16-17 in Birmingham. The lineup consisted of nine elite women, who took on multiple tests of strength. In the end, Lucy Underdown managed to win the competition and claim the title.
The first day of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK saw Andrea Thompson take the lead after two events. However, it was clear that she would have a difficult task defending her position on day two. Moreover, the rankings were extremely tight in points, so multiple athletes had a chance to come back.
The second day saw a masterclass by Lucy Underdown, who finished day one in ninth place, but managed to display one of the greatest comebacks that the sport has ever seen. Lucy managed to catch up to Angelica Jardine in the final event, getting into an overall tie at the end of the competition.
So, in order to determine the winner, Lucy Underdown went head-to-head with Angelica Jardin in a Frame Hold. They picked up the implements at the same time, with the winner being the one who held the for longer. Lucy got into her comfort zone and managed to outperform Angelica to win the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Title on home turf.

Samantha Belliveau has been recognized as the best dumbbell presser in the world for quite a while now. So, once again, she dominated all of her rivals in the Power Medley event. Her Yoke Carry was quite solid, but what separated her from the rest was the fact that she lifted all dumbbells and did so without taking too much time to rest between them.
Angelica Jardine was the only other woman to lift all three dumbbells after the Yoke, but she was nearly a minute and a half slower than Belliveau. So, Angelica settled for a second place finish, which brought in a lot of points regardless.
The battle for third place was epic as well, as multiple women finished the Yoke Carry and two dumbbells, so it came down to who did it the fastest. That turned out to be Melissa Peacock, who did so in a mind-blowing time of just 35.51 seconds. She was on pace to battle for the win in this event, but the final dumbbell proved to be just slightly heavier than what she was capable of.
- Samantha Belliveau — 4 in 52.20 s
- Angelica Jardine — 4 in 139.80 s
- Melissa Peacock — 3 in 35.51 s
- Nadia Stowers — 3 in 58.76 s
- Andrea Thompson — 3 in 68.94 s
- Inez Carrasquillo — 3 in 65.40 s
- Rebecca Roberts — 3 in 130.86 s
- Lucy Underdown — 1 in 25.18 s
- Hannah Linzay — No Lift
Fourth Event — David Webster Weight Over Bar Memorial Challenge
Moving on to the fourth event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK, the athletes took on the David Webster Weight Over Bar Memorial challenge. However, this time, the athletes could only use one arm to lift a bag and toss it over a beam, which was raised with each round that passed. The weight of the bag came out to 13 kilograms (28.7 pounds).
All of the Strongwomen proved to be exceptional, as it took 11 rounds to determine the winner of the event. The final few rounds saw a duel between Lucy Underdown and Samantha Belliveau, with both women determined to take the win. In the end, perhaps the most fair outcome happened, as Lucy and Samantha tied with a throw of 5.79 meters (19 feet).
Inez Carrasquillo kept up the pace with Underdwon and Belliveau for a long time, but she ultimately found her limit to be a throw of 5.33 meters. So, she ended up taking the third place in the event, jumping up to third on the overall leaderboards as well.
- Samantha Belliveau — 5.79 meters
- Lucy Underdown — 5.79 meters
- Inez Carrasquillo — 5.33 meters
- Angelica Jardine — 5.18 meters
- Rebecca Roberts — 5.18 meters
- Hannah Linzay — 5.18 meters
- Nadia Stowers — 5.03 meters
- Andrea Thompson — 4.57 meters
- Melissa Peacock — 4.27 meters
Fifth Event — Deadlift
The last hurdle in the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK is the deadlift for maximum reps. Athletes must lift 228 kilograms (502.7 pounds) without any specialized suits. They have a tight 60-second window to lock out as many reps as possible.
Whenever Lucy Underdown is competing, it is almost guaranteed that she will win a deadlift event, if there is one. The format of the event usually does not play a role for her, as she proved at the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic, when she pulled 12 repetitions of 228 kilograms (502.7 pounds). No one was even close to her, but she still made sure to give it her all for the sake of the fans’ enjoyment.
Nadia Stowers and Andrea Thompson are both known for their static strength, which proved to be useful in the deadlift event. They managed to lock out eight repetitions each, thus finding themselves in a tie for second place. This worked well for Nadia, as she secured a bronze medal overall.
- Lucy Underdown — 12 reps
- Nadia Stowers — 8 reps
- Andrea Thompson — 8 reps
- Melissa Peacock — 7 reps
- Angelica Jardine — 6 reps
- Inez Carrasquillo — 4 reps
- Hannah Linzay — 5 reps
- Samantha Belliveau — 3 reps
- Rebecca Roberts — 3 reps
Tie Breaker — Timed Frame Hold
In an unbelievable turn of events, Angelica Jardine and Lucy Underdown tied for first place overall with 30 points each. So, in order to determine the winner, the two women had to perform a tiebreaker. As the rules state, the event that they had to perform is a Frame Hold for maximum time possible.

The women picked up the implements at the same time, standing side-by-side. So, it was a matter of grip strength and mental determination. In the end, Lucy managed to hold on the implement a bit longer than Angelica, thus taking the title
Day One (March 16th)
Event One — American Oak
While the Strongmen have the Austrian Oak, the Strongwomen have the American Oak, which is a huge wooden Log. So, the task for the first event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK was to overhead press the Log for as many reps as possible.
However, the women had to choose if they wanted to lift a 122-kg (269-lb) or a 100-kg (220.5-lb) Log. They also had to keep in mind that even just one rep with the heavier log would beat any number of repetitions on the lighter log.
The split jerk technique is becoming more utilized in the Strongwoman and Strongman sports, as Inez Carrasquillo used it to secure max points on the first event. She was the only athlete to successfully lock out five repetitions with the heavy log, making all of them look effortless.
Andrea Thompson’s greatest strength is her overhead pressing power, so it wasn’t surprising to see her lock out four repetitions with the heavy Log. She was the first athlete to attempt the event, but she made sure to set the bar high for everyone that came after her.
The third place went to Angelica Jardine, who once again displayed incredible static power. Her technique on the American Oak Log Lift was not optimal, but she compensated for it with brute strength. In the end, she managed to lock out three reps.
- Inez Carrasquillo — 5 reps (122-kg / 269-lb)
- Andrea Thompson — 4 reps (122-kg / 269-lb)
- Angelica Jardine — 3 reps (122-kg / 269-lb)
- Nadia Stowers — 2 reps (122-kg / 269-lb)
- Melissa Peacock — 7 reps (100-kg / 220.5-lb)
- Samantha Belliveau — 6 reps (100-kg / 220.5-lb)
- Lucy Underdown — 5 reps (100-kg / 220.5-lb)
- Rebecca Roberts — 5 reps (100-kg / 220.5-lb)
- Hannah Linzay — No Lift
Event Two — Farmer’s Walk
The second event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK wraped up day one by challenging the athletes to pick up a 118-kilogram (260-pound) implement in each hand. Once the implements were off the floor, the athletes had to carry them for the max distance possible. The time limit was 60 seconds.
The second event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK proved why it is such a great competition, since the athletes that placed in the lower half of the leaderboards on the Log Lift dominated the Farmer’s Walk. Ultimately, Rebecca Roberts was the one who managed to win the event, having nearly finished three laps of 15 meters.
Lucy Underdown placed second, losing to Rebecca by the smallest of margins. She also came close to finishing three laps, but fell 0.4 meters short of Roberts. Regardless, both women were in a class of their own compared to their rivals.
Andrea Thompson and Nadia Stowers shared the third place, having both completed two full laps with implements in their hands. So, with a total distance of 30 meters each, they had to settle for a tie.
- Rebecca Roberts — 43.5 meters
- Lucy Underdown — 43.1 meters
- Andrea Thompson — 30 meters
- Nadia Stowers — 30 meters
- Angelica Jardine — 24.2 meters
- Hannah Linzay — 23.7 meters
- Samantha Belliveau — 23.6 meters
- Inez Carrasquillo — 22 meters
- Melissa Peacock — 7.9 meters
