The 2024 Giants Live Strongman Open & World Log Lift Challenge took place on September 7th in Birmingham, England. It consisted of 12 athletes, with the addition of Iron Biby, who only took part in the Log Lift Challenge. The full competition, however, featured five events, after which Mitchell Hooper was crowned the winner, having more points than anyone else.
Mitchell Hooper had two event wins at the 2024 Giants Live World Open but added two more second-place finishes as well. So, by the time the final event rolled around, Hooper’s overall win was guaranteed. In turn, he put on the brakes on the final event, performing just one rep and finishing in last place. So, although the point standings might not show it, Hooper was extremely dominant throughout the competition.
On the other hand, Cheick ‘Iron Biby’ Sanou won the World Log Lift Challenge, setting a new World Record of 231 kilograms (509.3 pounds).

Event One — Max Log Lift / World Log Lift Challenge
For the first event, the men had one task, to lift the heaviest Log possible. They were not restricted by a time limit and were allowed to skip weight jumps. It is also important to add that this event included athletes who were not doing the entire competition but instead just competed at the World Log Lift Challenge.
Cheick Sanou, also known as Iron Biby, won the World Log Lift Challenge, having set a new World Record of 231 kilograms (509.3 pounds). However, he did not take part in the full competition, which is why he was absent from the point standings.

Event Two — Arm-Over-Arm Pull
For the second event, the athletes had to pull a huge track across the field. The weight of the truck was unknown, but the difficulty of this event depends on other aspects as well, such as the floor friction and the inflation of the tires.
Luke Richardson has returned from an injury to compete at the 2024 Giants Live Strongman Open. He immediately proved why he is considered to be one of the most gifted athletes in the world, beating everyone on the truck pull with a time of 23.03 seconds.
Mitchell Hooper finished in second place, securing high points once again. However, he was nearly 2.5 seconds slower than Luke, which was an unusual sight to see. Moreover, his fellow Canadian, Maxime Boudreault, wrapped up the top three with a time of 26.23 seconds.
- Luke Richardson — 23.03 s
- Mitchell Hooper — 25.57 s
- Maxime Boudreault — 26.23 s

Event Three — Deadlift
For the third event of the 2024 Giants Live Strongman Open, the athletes took on an Axle bar deadlift. The weight came out to 350 kilograms (771.6 pounds), while the athletes had one minute to perform as many repetitions as possible.
Mitchell Hooper displayed tremendous pulling power, completing eight repetitions in the given time limit. This was more than any other athlete, meaning that he claimed his second event win of the competition.
Paddy Haynes had a relatively bad start to the competition, but he made up for it on the Deadlift. He ended up locking out seven repetitions, which was enough to give him a second-place finish. He was followed by five men who tied for third place with five reps each.
- Mitchell Hooper — 8 reps
- Paddy Haynes — 7 reps
- Luke Richardson — 5 reps
- Thomas Evans — 5 reps
- Evan Singleton — 5 reps
- Oleksii Novikov — 5 reps

- Gavin Bilton — 1 reps
Event Four — Sandbag Toss
The fourth event challenged the athletes by having them toss a series of six sandbags ranging from 18 kilograms (39.7 pounds) to 28 kilograms (61.7 pounds). They were given a time limit of 60 seconds to do so, with the goal being to finish as quickly as possible.
The top spot went to a Canadian representative once again, but this time it was Maxime Boudreault. He had an absolutely incredible performance, tossing all six bags in just 16.48 seconds, thus grabbing the max points.
Mitchell Hooper took second place with a time of 17.30 seconds, maintaining his streak of top-three event finishes. Furthermore, Evan Singleton also found his way into the top three, finishing all sandbag tosses in 20.65 seconds.

- Paddy Haynes — 5 in 41.08 s
- Gavin Bilton — Withdrew
Event Five — Power Stairs
Wrapping up the 2024 Giants Live Strongman Open, the athletes had to perform the Power Stairs. Specifically, they had to pick up and carry five implements up a flight of three stairs each. The weight of the implements ranged from 200 kilograms (440.9 pounds) to 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds). The goal was to load as many implements and in the shortest time possible.
Maxime Boudreault claimed his second consecutive event finish in an event that was not perfect for him on paper. In fact, he was the quickest out of all men that managed to finish the entire event, with the majority of his rivals not being even close. Maxime’s final time came out to 36.71 seconds.
Evan Singleton was practically the only man close to Maxime, finishing the event in 37.37 seconds to finish in second place. It is worth noting that Hooper deliberately finished in last place, avoiding any risk of injury since he already had more than enough points to take the title.

- Aivars Šmaukstelis — 15 in 40.11 s
