The 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic took place on November 22-24 on the icy grounds of Iceland. Lasting three days, the competition featured a total of nine events, pushing 15 athletes to the limits throughout the entire weekend. In the end, Mateusz Kieliszkowski was the man who took the title.
Mateusz Kieliszkowski took the title at the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic by winning four out of nine events. He also placed high in the majority of remaining events except the deadlift, which is known to be a weakness of his.

Event One — Natural Stones Press for Max
For the first event of the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic, the athletes took on the Natural Stone Press. However, the goal was to lift the heaviest stone possible, while having a 60-second time limit.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski had the best start to the competition, being the only man that managed to press the 142-kilogram (313-pound) Natural Stone. He was followed by a four-man tie for second place, as multiple men locked out a 134-kilogram (295.4-pound) stone.

Event Two — Hercules Hold
Moving onto the second event of the competition, the competitors faced an endurance event. Namely, they performed the Hercules Hold, where they had to hold two pillars weighing 150 kilograms (330.7 pounds) for as long as possible.
Andrew Burton achieved a convincing victory, displaying impressive grip strength and holding the implements for 59 seconds. The second place went to Rongo Keene, who finished with a time of 46 seconds. Tristain Hoath took third, lasting just a fraction of a second longer than Mateusz Kieliszkowski.

Event Three — Husafell Stone Carry
The third event featured the iconic Husafell Stone, which is recognizable for its shape and huge weight. In turn, the athletes were forced to pick up and carry a 186-kilogram (410-pound) stone for the maximum distance possible. The frozen ground and cold temperature added another level of difficulty to the event.
It did not take long for Mateusz Kieliszkowski to secure his second event win, as his Husafell Stone Carry of 68 meters was enough for another triumph. Audrius Jokubaitis finished in second with 65.8 meters, while Kristjan Nielsson grabbed third with just under 60 meters.

Event Four — Super Yoke & Farmer’s Walk Medley
The fourth event of the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic consisted of two exercises. They first had to carry a 380-kilogram (837.8-pound) Yoke for 20 meters, followed by a 140-kilogram (308.6-pound) Farmer’s Walk for 17 meters. The goal was to finish the event in the shortest time possible.
Wesley Derwinsky claimed his first win of the competition, finishing the entire medley in just 33 seconds. However, he was just 0.27 seconds quicker than Andrew Burton, who ended up in second place. Mateusz Kieliszkowski was not far behind either, rounding up the top three with a time of 34.04 seconds.

Event Five — Sandbag Toss
The fifth out of nine events was the Sandbag Toss. In this event, the athletes had a task of tossing a series of six sandbags over a beam that was set to a height of 4.4 meters. The weight of the sandbags ranged between 18-kg (39.7-lb) and 28-kg (61.7-lb). The time limit was set to 60 seconds, but the aim was to finish all tosses in the shortest time possible.

Shane Flowers proved that he has fully overcome his bicep injury, winning the Sandbag Toss with a time of just 11 seconds. In fact, the second fastest man was Wesley Derwinsky and he finished two seconds after Shane. Tristain Hoath finished another second later and took third place.

Event Six — Natural Stone Medley
The athletes faced the Natural Stones once again as a part of the sixth event of the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic. However, this time they had to lift a series of stones over a beam in the shortest time possible. The weight of the stones ranged from 105-kg (231.5-lb) to 170-kg (374.8-lb).
Mateusz Kieliszkowski was by far the greatest athlete in the sixth event, finishing the entire stone run in just 30 seconds. Audrius Jokubaitis finished in second as the only other man to finish the entire event, but he was nearly 20 seconds slower than Mateusz.

Event Seven — Vertical Lift
The final day of competition started with the Vertical Lift, which was an arm-over-arm pull for max height. So, the athletes had to pull a rope and lift the implement of unknown weight as high as possible.
Andrew Burton continued his impressive performance, reaching the 6 meter mark in just 30.20 seconds to take the event win. No other man reached the same height, but Tristain Hoath and Wesley Derwinsky both reached the height of 5 meters. Hoath did so in a time of 20.68 seconds, while Derwinsky was nearly 12 seconds slower.

Event Eight — Silver Dollar Deadlift
The penultimate event of the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic was the Silver Dollar Deadlift. However, it had a twist. Namely, the athletes started with a weight of 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds), but more weight was added with every rep they performed. So, they performed multiple reps until they reached a weight which they could not lift. Their last successful attempt was counted as their result.
Six out of the 15 men ended up in a tie for first place in the deadlift event. All of them ended up deadlifting 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds) and then failing the next weight jump. The men in question are Hoath, Derwinsky, Faapoi, Aryee, Flowers, and Zarins.

Event Nine — Log Lift
Lastly, the competitors at the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic took on the Log Lift. In this event they had the task of overhead pressing four progressively heavier logs, starting at 125-kg (275.5-lb) and ending at 165-kg (363.8-lb).
The incredible Mateusz Kieliszkowski wrapped up the competition in style, claiming yet another event win with confidence. He was one of few athletes that managed to finish all four log lifts, but was also faster than the rest who completed the event. Mateusz’s time came out to 29.56 second, approximately ten seconds faster than anyone else.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski was dubbed as one of the greatest Strongman prospects in history during the earlier years of his career. However, he unfortunately suffered a series of injuries which stunned his growth in the sport. His streak of bad luck seems to have passed, as Mateusz is back to his best, taking wins in elite contests such as the 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic.
