The 2024 Rogue Invitational is taking place on November 8-10 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Featuring multiple divisions and a large number of events, the risk of injuries was almost unavoidable. So, some athletes were unfortunately forced to withdraw from the competition.

Gabriela Migala

Gabriela Migala was having a performance of a lifetime at the 2024 Rouge Invitational in the CrossFit division. She held the second place position in front of the defending champion, Laura Horvat, and only behind the overall leader, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr.

Unfortunately, Gabriela Migala’s incredible performance was abruptly stopped on the second day of the 2024 Rogue Invitational. During one of the events, Gabriela Migala had the task of jumping over a huge hay bale multiple times. Well, after jumping over a few times, Gabriela abruptly stopped, indicating that something was not alright with one of her ankles.

The extent of Gabriela Migala’s injury was not revealed, but it was clearly significant enough to prevent her from going on to compete on the final day. Hopefully it is just a precautionary measure and that Gabriela will be healthy enough to keep training and preparing for her next adventures.

Henrik Haapalainen

The men’s CrossFit division also saw a withdrawal of a top-flight athlete, as Henrik Haapalainen could not continue the competition. His injury occurred at the same event as Gabriela Migala’s, meaning that he also got injured while jumping over the huge hay bale.

Henrik Haapalainen turned to Instagram to explain what happened, revealing that he actually tore his Achilles tendon. It is known to be a severe injury, so Henrik immediately decided to head back to Finland in order to meet up with a surgeon.

“Sadly this year it ended early for me as I tore my achilles tendon in event 6 box get overs. Sucks but that’s sports sometimes..

I was really looking forward to the upcoming events but now my focus goes into recovering as well as possible and get back stronger.”

Getting injured is always a risk when it comes to sports, but it is always sad to see it happen when athletes have spent their entire season preparing for a competition. However, the show must go on, with the remaining athletes continuing to push their bodies to the limit in pursuit of the coveted title.
