The 2024 Strongman Champions League Portugal took place on August 3rd in Esposende, Portugal. Also recognized under the name ‘Europe’s Strongest Latino’, the competition gathered 10 incredible Strongman athletes, who took part in five events in the span of just a few hours. So, after being pushed the limits, Evans Nana accumulated the most points and was given the title.
Evans Nana did not have a great start to the competition on event one, where he finished in fourth place. However, Evans managed to win all four of the remaining events, leaving nothing to chance and securing the victory quite comfortably.

Event Recap
Event One — Truck Pull
The 2024 Strongman Champions League Portugal started off with one of the most brutal tests of strength — the Truck Pull. Consequently, the athletes had to move a 15,000-kilogram (33,069-pound) vehicle for a distance of 20 meters.

The first event set the pace for the remainder of the competition, as it featured a race that was undecided until the very end. Ultimately, Andrea Invernizzi won the event, crossing the finish line in 41.85 seconds.
However, the Spanish Strongman, Gianluca Ardenghi, finished less than a second behind Invernizzi, showing just how small of a margin separated them. Moreover, Alexandre Hulin finished in third place with another competitive time of 43.66 seconds.

Event Two — Car Deadlift
The second event of the competition saw the athletes take on a Deadlift for Reps. Specifically, they deadlifted a car, which was loaded onto a platform. The weight of the lift came out to 350 kilograms (771.6 pounds), and the athletes were allowed to use lifting straps.
It did not take long for Evans Nana to secure his first event win, since he was the only man to achieve double digits on the Deadlift for Reps. Namely, he locked out 11 reps, which was enough to comfortably beat all of his rivals.
With two reps less than Evans, Andrea Invernizzi managed to secure an impressive second place finish. Two other men tied for third, as Alexandre Hulin and Gianluca Ardenghi both locked out seven reps.

Event Three — Log Lift
The third event was designed to test the upper body strength of the competitors, and what better way to do it than with a Log Lift. So, each athlete had 60 seconds to lock out as many reps as possible with a 140-kilogram (308.6-pound) Log.
Evans Nana found himself at the top of the leaderboard for the second consecutive event. He had no trouble lifting the humongous Log and managed to successfully complete five reps in the given time limit, securing max points once again.
Similar to the deadlift, Andrea Invernizzi was the one who finished in second place with four reps in total. However, he had to share the spot with Alessandro Castelli, since he locked out four reps as well.

Event Four — Bag Throw Medley
The second-to-last event of the 2024 Strongman Champions League Portugal was the Bag Throw Medley. In turn, the athletes had to toss six bags ranging in weight from 16-kg (35.3-lb) to 28-kg (61.7-lb) over a 4.25-meter high beam.
Evans Nana continued his winning streak, dominating everyone in the bag toss medley. In fact, he needed just 12.92 seconds to finish the event, averaging approximately 2 seconds per bag toss.
For reference, the second-place finisher, Andrea Invernizzi, also finished the entire event, but needed 21.98 seconds to do so. Alexandre Hulin was the only other man who managed to toss all six bags, which gave him third place.

Event Five — Super Yoke / Farmers Walk Medley
The final event of the 2024 Strongman Champions League Portugal was a Medley. It consisted of two portions, with the first one being a 400-kg (881.8-lb) Super Yoke Carry for a distance of 20 meters. After that was done, the athletes moved on to a 150-kg (330.7-lb) Farmers Walk for an additional 20 meters. The goal was to finish the event in the shortest time possible.
Evans Nana wrapped up an incredible day with his fourth consecutive event win. Since moving events are his strength, Nana sailed to victory, being the only man to finish the event in less than half a minute with a result of 27.65 seconds.
Gianluca Ardenghi also had a great performance, finishing the event in 33.83 seconds. Although he was not within reach of Evans, Gianluca beat all of the other competitors by a significant margin.

Coming into the competition, Evans Nana had 23 International appearances and one victory. Interestingly, that win occurred at last year’s edition of the Strongman Champions League Portugal. So, he has managed to improve his resume, defending his title and adding another gold medal to his collection.
