The biggest Strongman competition each year is the World’s Strongest Man, as all athletes are vying for the title. Well, seeing that the 2023 Strongman season has concluded, the thoughts are already turning towards next year. So on December 8th, it was officially revealed that the 2024 SBD World’s Strongest Man will take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from May 1-5.

The 2024 SBD World’s Strongest Man will be the 47th edition of the competition, and this will be the second consecutive year that it is taking place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It proved to be a very good destination last year, both for the athletes and the fans. However, this year will be even better, as it is confirmed that the venue will be structured much better, giving a clear overview of the show to all the viewers in attendance.

“We’re excited to welcome the World’s Strongest Man competition back to Myrtle Beach and the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place for a second consecutive year,” said Karen Riordan, President & CEO Visit Myrtle Beach. “The crowd at the 2023 event exceeded our expectations, as we saw fans from around the US and the world cheer on the competitors over the four days of the event. We can’t wait to welcome the strongmen and their fans back to The Beach and hope they enjoy all our destination has to offer.”

Another reason why Myrtle Beach looked like a good location from the standpoint of the organizers were the hotels for the athletes. Interestingly, finding housing for some of the biggest men alive comes with certain complications. As per Becca Levin (VP, Media, IMG), they need to make sure that the toilets are not mounted to a wall, the shower cabins are big enough, and much more.

Another interesting addition to the 2024 World’s Strongest Man will be a large viewing screen in the Fan Festival area, which will broadcast the show for all fans present. This area will be free and open to the public, so the goal is to attract and please as many Strongman fans as possible.

The events and lineups for the 2024 World’s Strongest Man are not finalized yet. So, both of those will be announced at a later date. However, it has been WSM’s policy that all past WSM winners are automatically invited, which could give a clue to who a few competitors could be.

Regarding the schedule, it is currently only clear that the competition will span over four days. The first two days will be the qualifiers, where athletes will compete in groups and aim to place high to go through to the finals. The third and fourth days are reserved for the finals.

Mitchell Hooper was the 2023 WSM champion, which makes him the likely favorite for the 2024 World’s Strongest Man as well. However, now that the location and date are revealed, everyone can start planning and preparing for the competition. So, there is no doubt that the battle for the title will once again be spectacular.
