The 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic kicked off with day one of the competition taking place on March 6th in Columbus, Ohio. The first of two days featured three events, tasking 10 world-class Strongwomen with completing a range of movements and lifting tremendous weights. Well, Olga Liashchuk and Angelica Jardine are tied for the lead going into day two of the competition.

Day one of the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic was very eventful, as many great battles took place across all three events. The elephant bar deadlift saw Lucy Underdown take the win after she set a new World Record and beat Jennifer Lyle.

The second event of the competition saw the women overhead press some incredibly heavy dumbbells, with Inez Carrasquillo taking the win. The women wrapped up day one on the stone and shoulder, where Angelica Jardine ended up taking the win. So, the point difference between the top athletes is almost negligible, leaving a lot to be resolved on day two of the competition.

Event Recap

Event One — Elephant Bar Deadlift

The first event of the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic is a familiar one, as it has appeared in previous editions of the competition. It is a deadlift event variation that uses the elephant barbell, which is longer than the standard one. This changes how the bar bends under heavy loads, which makes it a unique movement and forces the athletes to adapt. So, each athlete was given a total of three attempts to establish a one-rep max.

Although multiple women displayed incredible performance on the elephant bar deadlift, Lucy Underdown made it clear that she is still by far the greatest deadlifter in the sport of Strongwoman. So, she won the event and set a brand new World Record with a 701-pound (318-kilogram) pull. Interestingly, in her post-event statement, Lucy revealed that she still had more left in the tank and that she intends to break the record next year as well.

Jennifer Lyle was certainly the biggest surprise of the event, having put a lot of pressure on Lucy. Lyle was the first one to break the record with a 681-pound (308.9-kilogram) deadlift, which forced Underdown to go even heavier. Lyle attempted to pull 701 pounds (318 kilograms) on her final attempt but was unsuccessful.

Olga Liashchuk rounded up the top three on the opening event of the competition, managing to lift 5 pounds (2.3 kilograms) more than Angelica Jardine. As a result, Olga’s heaviest lift came out to 621 pounds (281.7 kilograms).

  • Lucy Underdown — 701 pounds
  • Jennifer Lyle — 681 pounds
  • Olga Liashchuk — 621 pounds
  • Angelica Jardine — 616 pounds
  • Hannah Linzay — 601 pounds
  • Andrea Thompson — 596 pounds
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 581 pounds
  • Jackie Osczevski — 566 pounds
  • Melissa Peacock — 531 pounds
  • Katie Blunden — 441 pounds

Event Two — Dumbbell Challenge

For the second event of the competition, the women faced a series of dumbbells varying in weight. They then chose the dumbbell that they wanted to lift and overhead press for as many reps as possible. It is important to note that a rep with a heavier dumbbell ranked higher than any number of reps with the lighter one.

Inez Carrasquillo is recognized as one of the greatest overhead pressers ever seen in the sport of Strongwoman. Interestingly, she showcased an interesting approach as she switched lifting with the right and left arms, while many others often prefer one arm over the other. She was the only woman to lift the 195-pound (88.5-kilogram) dumbbell, which earned her some much-needed points following a 7th-place finish on the deadlift.

Olga Liashchuk continued putting up a consistent performance, finishing in second place in the Dumbbell Challenge and taking the overall lead going into the final event of day one. Olga locked out a rep with the 190-pound (86.2-kilogram) implement.

Angelica Jardine finished in third place in the Dumbbell Challenge, which, along with the deadlift, marked a great start of the competition for her. She lifted the 180-pound (81.6-kilogram) dumbbell twice, but it turned out that even just one rep with the implement would have given her the same result. However, since a couple of athletes were yet to perform the event at the time, Angelica played it safe and locked out her second rep for good measure.

  • Inez Carrasquillo — 195 pounds (1 rep)
  • Olga Liashchuk — 190 pounds (1 rep)
  • Angelica Jardine — 180 pounds (2 reps)
  • Melissa Peacock — 170 pounds (1 rep)
  • Katie Blunden — 170 pounds (1 rep)
  • Hannah Linzay — 160 pounds (1 rep)
  • Jennifer Lyle — 150 pounds (2 reps)
  • Lucy Underdown — 150 pounds (1 rep)
  • Jackie Osczevski — 140 pounds (1 rep)

Event Three — Stone to Shoulder

For the final event of day one at the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic, the athletes were tasked with lifting a massive stone off the floor and up to the shoulder. They lifted the Steve Jeck / Bill Crawford Stone, which weighs 260 pounds (117 kilograms). The time cap for the event was set to two minutes, while the goal was to achieve as many reps as possible.

Angelica Jardine emerged as the winner of the final event on day one of the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic. Her power and technique allowed her to perform smooth reps with the stone, not wasting much time or energy to bring it up to shoulder. In turn, she continued performing reps until the time limit ran out, getting seven reps and closing in on Olga Liashchuk on the overall leaderboards.

Inez Carrasquillo and Olga Liashchuk put up a nearly identical performance, achieving six repetitions within the two-minute time cap. Inez did get the stone off the floor hoping to get the seventh rep as well, but the time cap ran out before she got it to the shoulder. However, a tiebreaker was put in place, awarding athletes who get the stone up to the chest (5 points) or to the lap (1 point) even if they don’t complete the rep. So, Inez finished in second place, while Olga had to settle for third.

  • Angelica Jardine — 7 reps (0)
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 6 reps (5)
  • Olga Liashchuk — 6 reps (0)
  • Hannah Linzay — 2 reps (5)
  • Melissa Peacock — 2 reps (1)
  • Katie Blunden — 1 rep (15)
  • Jackie Osczevski — 1 rep (11)
  • Lucy Underdown — No Lift
  • Jennifer Lyle —No Lift
