The 2026 CrossFit Open took place from February 26th to March 16th, spanning the course of three weeks, where each week featured its own unique workout. The Open was held in an online format, requiring the athletes to submit the videos of their performances along with their scores. So, with the results from all three workouts added up, Colten Mertens and Lucy Campbell have been announced as the overall winners.
The CrossFit Open is known for featuring hundreds of thousands of participants from all around the world on a yearly basis. The 2026 edition was no exception, as a large number of people have completed three workouts in hopes of making it through to the next stage of the season.
Colten Mertens had an incredible streak of performances at the 2026 CrossFit Open. He started off with a third-place finish in the opening workout. Mertens then continued with a second-place finish on the second week but then put up his best performance the week later, when he managed to win the 26.3 workout.
The women’s division witnessed an epic battle between Lucy Campbell and Mirjam von Rohr. Campbell placed second in the 26.1 workout, being beaten only by Mirjam. However, Campbell finished in fourth place on the second workout of the Open and thus took over the lead. She then placed 10th on the Open Workout 26.3, which turned out to be just enough to take the overall win.

Who are the winners?
Colten Mertens is one of the greatest CrossFit athletes in the men’s division, known for his incredible endurance and immense strength. Mertens has been actively competing for a number of years now, first making his CrossFit Games debut in 2018 when he competed in the teams division. Three years later, Colten also managed to reach the Games as an individual athlete. His best finish came at the 2025 CrossFit Games, where he ranked 12th. Moreover, Colten also won the 2025 CrossFit Open and now managed to defend his title.
Lucy Campbell made it clear in 2025 that she is looking to become the Fittest Woman on Earth, having placed second only behind Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr. She only kept improving during the offseason, as seen by her performance in the 2026 CrossFit Open. Having won the first stage of the season, Lucy is definitely on track to reach the CrossFit Games once again, where she would be one of the favorites for the title. It is important to note that Lucy managed to overcome a complicated wrist injury in 2023 and came back even better than ever before.
