Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov

McGregor willing to go to extreme lengths to fight Nurmagomedov

The potential fight between the McGregor and Nurmagomedov has been high on many mixed martial arts fans’ wishlist for over a couple of years. But after the UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn, where McGregor attack the bus carrying the lightweight champion, he further stoked the fire for a fight with ‘The Eagle’.

And according to the Irish Sun, Conor McGregor is keen to get back inside the octagon and ready to ‘fight for peanuts’ if given his shot at the new lightweight UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

A source from the Conor’s camp revealed, McGregor is playing to make up with Dana White and make the fight happen, the Irish Sun reports.

“[McGregor ] has never wanted a fight as much in his life.”

As per the report:

“Conor is trying to do everything he possibly can to get back into the cage and wants Khabib no matter what it takes.

He has never wanted a fight so much. He doesn’t care about the money for once, he just wants to get this guy one on one as he feels this whole situation was caused by him and he wants to make him pay.

He would take this fight on for peanuts, he wants to make it happen.”

Khabib stayed perfect with his professional record to 26-0 — 10-0 in the UFC — with his recent title victory over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223, and after the win, Khabib said he is willing to fight McGregor in his next outing, but he has to beg the match.

We have to finish this beef, chicken or something like this,” Nurmagomedov said during the UFC 223 post-fight news conference. “He have to stop eating Burger Kings.

“You want to fight? Come. I told you guys, I’m going to make him humble. I’m going to change his game.

“Now only one champion. No more fake champions, no more champion who never defend his title or something like this.

“Now UFC has champion, and this champion wants to defend his title. You want to fight? Come here. Inside the cage? Come. Outside the cage? Come. Let me know without camera, without like all this media.

“I hope he’s going to fight – we have to fight. Like make World Tour. Everywhere, like Tokyo, Moscow, Dublin, Los Angeles, Rio.

“Big world tour, promote this fight and fight end of year, biggest arena in the world. Madison Square Garden … I’m here.

“He want to become lightweight champion? He have to fight with me. No more all these fake champions.

“You guys remember when he put tweet, ‘Beg me.’ Please beg me.”

Mcgregor last fought inside the octagon at UFC 205 where he defeated Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight title back in 2016.

It could be a while before he returns to Octagon, as Notorious was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief following an incident in New York before a UFC event.

Even UFC president Dana White seems unsure when he will return to action.
