The 2023 IPF World Equipped Championships, scheduled for November 13-19, in Vilnius, Lithuania. As such, it has gathered the finest powerlifters in the world, all of whom set their sights on the gold medal. However, some managed to claim the ultimate achievement, that is, setting a World Record. Most notably, Kenia Monserrate put up a 227.5-kilogram (501.6-pound) Equipped Squat IPF World Record in the 57-kilogram weight class.
Kenia Monserrate walked out onto the platform wearing knee sleeves and a squat suit, determined to set a brand new IPF World Record. She then braced, un-racked the barbell, and began squatting 227.5 kilograms (501.6 pounds). She quickly dropped down to the required depth, and started pushing back up. Her ascent was slow at first, but she pushed through the sticking point and let out a victorious scream.
Sri Hartati held the previous U57 Equipped Squat IPF World Record of 225 kilograms (496 pounds), which she set at the 2018 IPF World Powerlifting Championships. So, now that Kenia Monserrate has broken that record, she also became the first woman in the 57-kilogram weight class to squat over 500 pounds.

Despite setting the World Record, Kenia Monserrate failed to win her weight class at the 2023 IPF World Equipped Championships. Instead, she claimed the silver medal, but only after an extremely tight battle against Alessandra Cernigliaro. In fact, both Kenia and Alessandra finished with a Total of 535 kilograms (1,179.5 pounds). So, Kenia ended up in second place due to a tiebreaker rule, which stated that the advantage goes to the athlete with a lower bodyweight.
