Cheick ‘Iron Biby’ Sanou is known for being a static monster and potentially the strongest man to ever live. This is especially correct when it comes to overhead pressing, as there is no one that could match his sheer upper-body power. He proved that once again by setting a new 231-kilogram (509.3-pound) Log Lift World Record.
Cheick ‘Iron Biby’ Sanou made his way to Birmingham, England, in order to take part in the 2024 World Log Lift Challenge on September 7th. He came with only one goal, and that was to set a new World Record. He faced multiple elite Strongmen, but everything came down to his performance in the end.
Iron Biby performed multiple Log Lifts in his warm-up to the World Record, starting at 185 kilograms (407.9 pounds). However, none presented any challenge for him. In turn, the 231-kilogram (509.3-pound) Log Lift also looked very smooth, despite being a record-breaking lift.
Cheick Sanou also held the previous Log Lift World Record of 230 kilograms (507 pounds), which he set at the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals.

Cheick Sanou has not been going as heavy as he used to in his training sessions. So, his most impressive lift in preparation for the competition was a 209-kilogram (460.8-pound) Log Lift for four reps. This was a deliberate effort from Iron Biby, who just wanted to stay injury-free while also improving his overhead pressing power.

Iron Biby has also set a goal for himself to lift a 240-kilogram (529.1-pound) Log sometime in the future. He believes that it is definitely possible and is even wearing a ring with “240” engraved on it.
Cheick ‘Iron Biby’ Sanou will now turn his focus to the 2024 Giants Live USA Strongman Championships, which will take place on September 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is set to be his first full-competition in a while, as he only performs just one event in most cases. However, many believe that Iron Biby’s skill set is perfect for a full-competition as well.
As of now, Iron Biby has taken part in ten international competitions but has never claimed a win. On the other hand, he has won all seven of the single-event shows in which he has taken part. Moreover, Iron Biby has held multiple World Records throughout his lengthy career.
