As someone with not much experience as a powerlifter, you might expect Hunter Henderson to have some lackluster showings. However she proved recently that her lack of competition experience does not mean anything for her skills as a lifter.

At just 24 years of age, there is a lot of expectations surrounding a prospect like Hunter. She has only competed three times so far, but she has won each one of those meets. Obviously the situation in the world slowed her down a bit, in terms of raking up more wins, but she came into 2020 as one of the hottest new talents in the sport.

The reason for this hype was put on display recently, when Hunter Henderson took to her Instagram. Here she shared her squat training session, where she decided to try some different variations of the lift. First she went for a sizeable 405lb Cambered Squat for a five rep max, using chains. Then she followed this up with a decent looking 345lb for 3×5.

“Camber bar 5rm @ 405 + chain
Duffalo bar 3×5 @ 345

I am incredibly grateful for the people that I have supporting me. I have some pretty solid people and companies behind me. I am surrounded by people who genuinely want to see me succeed as I do them. I am proud and very excited to announce that I am now apart of the @animalpak team. I look forward to the great opportunity of representing the company and myself.

Oh, and just a few more weeks until we are back in meet prep😈”

Hunter does a good job with both of these squat variations. Both of these bars change the distribution of the weight in ways that take some of the pressure off of your back. However that does not mean that she had any easier of a time doing the sets.

Henderson says that she is going to be preparing for a contest soon, and it certainly seems that way. She has been putting a ton of focus on the camber bar squats as well. Here she is a couple weeks earlier, going 5 reps on 385lb, with an additional 80lb in chains.

With Hunter Henderson only having three contests under her belt, she seems excited to get more experience. She says that he competition return will be soon, and we can not wait.
