The 2025 World’s Strongest Woman took place on November 20-23 in Arlington, Texas, but the action continued even after the competition was over. Namely, allegations started circulating that the overall winner, Jammie Booker, was actually a transgender person. Specifically, fans stated that the athlete was born as a biological male but competed in the women’s division. Well, upon finding out about this fact, the organizers of the 2025 WSW, Official Strongman Games (OSG), decided to disqualify Jammie, as per their recent announcement on Instagram.

The OSG statement started off with a recap of what happened, confirming the allegations made by Strongman and Strongwoman fans in the past period. They also revealed that they tried to contact Jammie Booker, but that the athlete did not respond.

“It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women’s Open category. Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed. An attempt has been made to contact the competitor involved but a response has not been received.”

OSG then revealed that they would not have allowed the aforementioned athlete to compete if they had known about all the facts regarding the situation. They also pointed out that they run multiple divisions with inclusivity in mind, but that this falls under the responsibility of ensuring fairness.

“Had we been aware, or had this been declared at any point before or during the competition, this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Woman’s Open category. We are clear – competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth. Official Strongman is inclusive and proud to run events which do not discriminate against athletes based on personal characteristics. Any athlete is welcome. But it is our responsibility to ensure fairness and ensure athletes are assigned to men or women’s categories based on whether they are recorded as male or female at birth.”

Lastly, the organizers revealed that they disqualified Jammie Booker from the competition. In turn, they also decided to review the results and points without the scores made by the disqualified athlete.

“Given this, we have disqualified the athlete in question from the Official Strongman World Championships 2025. All athlete points and places will be altered accordingly to ensure that the rightful places are allocated to each of the Women’s Open athletes.”

Andrea Thompson’s Reaction

While many people, both fans and athletes, had their opinion on Jammie Booker’s situation, it is safe to say that Andrea Thompson was the most affected by it. She finished in second place at the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman, losing to Jammie by just one point. Andrea remained relatively silent until the situation was resolved and now finally decided to reveal her thoughts.

With Jammie Booker out of the picture, Andrea Thompson is the athlete with the most points, making her the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman. This marks her second win in the women’s open, as she claimed the coveted title in 2018 as well.

“What should be a momentous occasion has sadly been overshadowed by scandal and dishonesty from someone who was welcomed into our crazy sport.
A sport which encourages women to celebrate themselves without being judged on how society says they should be.”

“I am grateful to the team for reaching out to me, investigating and rectifying the situation so quickly. Honoring the title to me, which is something we just don’t see in any other sport that has faced a similar position.

This means that we, as a community ARE taking a stand. Protecting women’s sport as we have fought so hard for,” wrote Andrea Thompson on Instagram.

Jammie Booker had put up some other great results earlier this year. The most prominent one was certainly her second-place finish at the 2025 North America’s Strongest Woman competition. Well, after finding out that Jammie was a transgender athlete competing in the women’s division, the organizers of the competition decided to take away her silver medal from the prestigious competition. You can check out their explanation below.

“We want to express our sincere apologies to the athletes, coaches, and members of the Strongman community. No one within our team was aware of this situation prior to the event, and the athlete would not have been permitted to compete had this information been disclosed or identified earlier. We take full responsibility for this oversight.

Our priority is, and will always be, to maintain fairness, clarity, and integrity for all competitors who dedicate themselves to earning these titles. After reviewing the situation, the Strongman Circuit has made the decision to revoke the 2nd place North American Strongest Woman title previously awarded to Jammie Booker.”

While the question of transgender athletes in women’s divisions is known to be controversial, the organizers of the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman competition made it clear that they are using birth certificates to determine the athletes’ gender. So, they had a quick reaction after finding out that an athlete did not present all the relevant information. As a result, Andrea Thompson has been crowned the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman.
