“Welcome to my fridge. Fruit, lots of grapes lots of blueberries, fresh vegetables. I like yogurt. Hummus is a good snack. Lots of water with electrolytes. Greens, that’s really the size of it, lots of vegetables, lots of proteins from chicken and eggs and fish.”
When it comes to his dislikes, Bon Jovi has very few things that he wouldn’t eat which include cucumbers and raw carrots.
“If I could help it, but I don’t get a vote around here, cucumbers, not my favorite thing. Raw carrots, not my favorite thing. I’m not a very picky eater, everything in moderation including moderation.”
Over time, Bon Jovi’s eating patterns have changed, definitely for the better, going from lots of fast food to a healthier gluten-free diet.
“You know, we used to live on McDonald’s drive-thru, I haven’t been anywhere near a place like that in I don’t remember how many years. A lot less carbs in the form of pasta. I guess we’re more conscious of things like gluten. Gluten-free pasta is just horrible I’m not interested. However, you can get a good gluten-free pizza if you know how to make it.”
As a rock star, Bon Jovi reveals what he used to eat before a big performance versus what he eats now and while he does eat better, he still can’t resist a good ol’ peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
“I used to eat a big plate of pasta and chicken would be my typical pre-show meal, cut that out in the last few years with a concern about gluten it makes a difference. If I really want to indulge I’m still not afraid of a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”
Having recently had throat surgery, Bon Jovi reveals that it has thankfully not impacted his eating in any way.
“It hasn’t impacted my diet at all. Ive always been on my game when it came to being health conscious. You know none of that is really going to make a big different to something that is as big as your thumb nail which is your vocal cords.”
When it comes to crazy diets, Bon Jovi took it to the extreme during his last tour when he cut out gluten, dairy, sugar, and alcohol.
“I was gluten-free, dairy-free, alcohol-free, sugar-free during the course of the last tour. I was very skinny but it wasn’t any fun.”
As for caffeine, Bon Jovi still enjoys a good cup of joe in the morning but has toned it down since his Red Bull days.
“I have limited my coffee intake where it used to be a hell of a lot more Now, it is a cup in the morning. I went through my diet Red Bull stage and you won’t get me near one of those ever again.”
Even though wine used to be a go-to, Bon Jovi says that has changed.
“Not always easy, you know. I will succumb to sugar, guilty as charged. I’m drinking Hampton Water rosé but you’re not going to find me having a bottle of red anymore. I’m not going to really have a steak all that often but if I want my protein I get it out of chicken or even fish.”
Bon Jovi starts the day right with a nice avocado toast with lox and an egg on top for breakfast.
“An egg over-easy on some Nova Scotia locks and a piece of whole wheat toast with some avocado spread on it. Fills me up for a good part of the day.”
Even rock star Bon Jovi can’t resist the goodness of pizza, indulging in a slice of New York’s finest when he is looking to cheat on his diet.
“A great New York pizza full of pepperoni and sausage and onions and peppers and anchovies and oyu name it.

As for his protein shake, Bon Jovi really enjoys the TB12 chocolate protein shake. He also emphasized that he adds electrolytes to as much of his water as possible.
“Just ice because the TB12 chocolate protein shake is actually pretty darn good and then we have a hydrating electrolyte drink that you know I stick in as much of my water as I can. Not only does it taste good but it’s keeping me hydrated and doing good.”
When that late-night craving sets in, Bon Jovi is a sucker for a delectable cookie.
“Late night these are my friend (cookies), so there is nothing innocent about that.
Getting into the gym, Bon Jovi shared that he likes to work out frequently, about six days a week early in the mornings.
“I like to be in the gym that just the endorphin rush is something that I’m very comfortable with on a daily basis, typically first thing in the morning. Five or six days a week, a little something each day.”
As he has gotten older, Bon Jovi revealed that he had to adjust his training routine to accommodate the inflammation he suffers from now.
“You know, it had because I was doing a lot of the usually pumping weights and running and as I’ve gotten older inflammation and injury started to creep in so I approached it a little differently so the pliability and the stretching and the bands and everything that we do keeps me not only fit but feeling good.”
He also credited a personal trainer for his energy levels and lasting health.
“This is Felicia Pellegrini who is my trainer and motivator. i was having a lot of pain. I was getting cortisone shots, constantly at the chiropractor, I was doing cryotherapy, since we have had Felicia in our lives and this whole pliability approach to things I don’t think I’ve seen a chiropractor three times in the last 10 months. Chiropractors working with us on the road for 30 plus years and now it’s all been eliminated.”
Outside of the gym, Bon Jovi really enjoys tennis.
“I love to play tennis. If I could play tennis on the seniors handicapped division of professional tennis thats my aspiration.
Bon Jovi reveals why working out has helped him as a musician and how he stays motivated.
“Getting rid of inflammation no matter if you are an athlete or a performer or you are going to work everyday you don’t want your knees and your ankles and your elbows to hurt.”
“I look in the mirror and I go holy shit you ain’t as young as you used to be,” said Jovi.
“It is a variety but as of late we have been very excited that there is a full time Bon Jovi channel on Sirius Xm so we listen to channel 312 and we have been monitoring the brand new Bon Jovi station on Sirius.”
Bon Jovi discussed all the battle scars he has from previous injuries.
“Plenty. Everything from calf tears to plantar fasciitis surgery to miniscus, shoulder and of course my throat, which the doctor enjoyed cutting with a butter knife.”
Bon Jovi isn’t the only high-profile name showing off the inside of his gym and fridge. Recently, “Reacher” TV star Alan Ritchson also gave a glimpse inside his fridge revealing that cookie dough was his guilty pleasure. Ritchson shared that he feels like he can eat somewhat badly as long as he puts in extra time at the gym.
Even though Bon Jovi enjoyed his fair share of parties as a rock star, the 62-year-old values healthy living. As one of the most iconic musicians to come out of the 80s, it’s always great to see someone of his stature sporting next-level longevity.
