The man that everyone had been waiting for to take the stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Karlos Nasar, definitely did not disappoint. Putting up the greatest performance of the weightlifting segment so far, Karlos managed to secure an Olympic gold medal for the first time in his career. However, he also managed to set multiple new World and Olympic Records in the process.

Karlos Nasar’s Full 2024 Paris Olympics Performance

Karlos Nasar basically faced no challenge from any of the other athletes in the 89-kilogram weight class. That is not to say that his rivals weren’t incredible, but instead to point out just how mind-blowing Nasar’s performance was. He did not fail even one attempt throughout the competition and fulfilled his goal without needing to go for his final Clean & Jerk. In turn, he claimed his first Olympic gold medal at the age of just 20-years-old.

Snatch

Although Clean & Jerk is his prowess, Karlos Nasar’s Snatch is also incredibly good. So, it was not a surprise to see him easily go through the first two attempts of 173 kilograms (381.4 pounds) and 177 kilograms (390.2 pounds).

Karlos Nasar then moved on to his final attempt and decided to load 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds). As expected, Karlos crushed the lift once again and tied for first place with Yeison López after event one.

Interestingly, the Snatch Olympic Standard is set at 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds), meaning that Karlos Nasar could have set an Olympic Record had he loaded just one additional kilogram (2.2 pounds). However, his ability not to get ahead of himself enabled him to win an Olympic Gold Medal and smoke the Clean & Jerk event.

  • 173 kilograms (381.4 pounds)
  • 177 kilograms (390.2 pounds)
  • 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds)

Clean & Jerk

Karlos Nasar’s performance on the Clean & Jerk can only be described as a masterclass. He used his opener to lift 213 kilograms (469.6 pounds), which marked a new Olympic Record already. However, he was far from achieving his goal.

Consequently, Karlos Nasar jumped up to 224 kilograms (493.8 pounds) for his second Clean & Jerk attempt. Wearing just a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps, Karlos easily cleaned the barbell from the floor. He then proceeded to Jerk it above his head with even less struggle, leaving everyone in attendance speechless. In turn, he set new Olympic and World Records in both the Clean & Jerk and Total events.

Having achieved his goals on his second attempt, Karlos Nasar did not even perform his final one.
