Li Fabin is one of the standout athletes on an incredible China weightlifting team. That is why he was picked to represent his nation at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Well, Li appeared on the first day of the weightlifting segment at the Olympics and impressed everyone. Namely, he managed to set a new 143-kilogram (315.3-pound) Snatch Olympic Record.

Li Fabin’s Full Performance at 2024 Paris Olympics

Li Fabin came into the 2024 Paris Olympics as the defending champion from Tokyo and the biggest favorite for the gold medal as well. Although there are some impressive athletes in his weight class, Li Fabin easily clinched the win once again, beating his closest rival by 7 kilograms (15.4 pounds) despite a relatively bad performance on the Clean & Jerk.

Snatch

Li Fabin’s snatch performance went exactly as he envisioned it, since he successfully performed all three of his attempts. The Chinese weightlifter opened up with a Snatch of 137 kilograms (15.4 pounds) and followed it up with another impressive lift at 140 kilograms (308.6 pounds).

On his final attempt, Li Fabin decided to go all out, setting a goal to break the Olympic Record. In turn, he loaded 143 kilograms (315.3 pounds) on the barbell. Then, he came out to perform the lift and smoked it with ease, despite everyone expecting to see at least some struggle.

This completed his collection of Olympic Records, as he had already previously set the Clean & Jerk and Total records at the Tokyo Olympics.

  • 140 kilograms (308.6 pounds)
  • 143 kilograms (315.3 pounds) — U61KG Olympic Record

*No one held the U61KG Snatch Olympic Record before, as the Olympic Standard of 142-kg (313-lb) was never exceeded. So, Li Fabin is the first man to manage to Snatch more than the standard, thus setting a new record.
