Panagiotis Tarinidis is one of the greatest powerlifters that France has to offer, as seen once again during his recent performance. On November 1st, Panagiotis appeared at the 2024 FFForce Championnats de France Open in the 66-kilogram weight class. He ended up with a 713-kilogram (1,571.9-pound) raw Total, which marked an Unofficial IPF World Record.

Panagiotis Tarinidis’ Full Performance

Panagiotis Tarinidis won the 66-kilogram weight class with seven out of nine attempts successful. So, he only failed one attempt on the squat and the deadlift. This shows that there is still some room for improvement, which is impressive considering that he is already unofficially breaking the World Record.

Squat

Panagiotis Tarinidis started off strong on the squats, breezing through his first attempt and moving onto 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds) for his second one. This was a huge jump between two attempts, and it definitely reflected on Panagiotis’ lift. He barely managed to get it up, having to grind through the sticking point for a few seconds. In turn, Tarinidis was unable to lift any additional weight on his final attempt.

  • 235 kilograms (518.1 pounds)
  • 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds)
  • Unsuccessful — 253 kilograms (557.8 pounds)

Bench Press

Panagiotis Tarinidis’ bench session explained why he is often dubbed the ‘King of Grind’. Namely, during his final attempt of 178 kilograms (392.4 pounds), Panagiotis pulled off the impossible. From the very first second he started pressing the weight, it seemed like he would fail. However, he continued pushing the bar, raising it inch by inch until it finally reached lockout.

Deadlift

With one event left, Panagiotis Tarinidis was prepared to leave his final atom of strength on the platform. So, his deadlift on the limits, at that moment, turned out to be 285 kilograms (628.3 pounds). He tried to add 5 kilograms (11 pounds) for his final attempt, but barely moved the barbell. Panagiotis has performed heavier deadlifts in the past, but it is important to note that he was extremely fatigued on this occasion following the squat and the bench press.

  • 270 kilograms (595.2 pounds)
  • 285 kilograms (628.3 pounds)
  • Unsuccessful — 290 kilograms (639.3 pounds)

Total — 713 kilograms (1,571.9 pounds) — Unofficial U66KG IPF Raw World Record

*Senumong Kasemsand holds the official U66KG IPF Total World Record of 710.5-kg (1,566.4-lb), which he set at the 2022 AsianPF Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships.
