Performance Lab Mind is an “ultramodern nootropic for brainpower, brain health, and burnout resistance”.

It’s supposedly the only supplement that not only boosts performance factors such as motivation, speed, focus, mood, multitasking (and more); it’s also formulated to help you recover from intense mental exertion.

Physical activity can be stressful and your progress depends on your ability to bounce back and take on another session with the same intensity.

Does Mind have the stuff to separate it from others? Well, let’s find out.

About The Brand

Performance Lab has quickly made a name for itself in the supplement industry as a go-to for quality formulations.

In fact, they call themselves the “world’s most sophisticated nutritional supplement system for optimizing daily performance and long-range health”.

The company uses a patented technology called NutriGenesis® to create their own in-house vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, all grown in their state-of-the-art lab.

Their process includes quality control checks before, during, and after manufacturing and independent third-party lab verification for products to ensure purity and potency.

Ingredients and Potential Benefit

Performance Lab Mind Ingredients

Mind has four main ingredients:

  • Cognizin® Citicoline – 250mg
  • Sharp-PS® Green – 100mg
  • Ajipure® L-tyrosine – 250mg
  • Maritime pine bark extract – 75mg

Below we’ve included information on each one to give you an idea of what Mind actually does and how it may benefit your brain health and performance.

Cognizin® Citicoline

Cognizin® Citicoline supposedly boosts brain energy by 13.6% and boosts brain cell membrane formation by 26%.

The substance citicoline occurs naturally in the body and has been shown to have neuroprotective properties. (1).

It increases the brain chemical phosphatidylcholine, which plays an important role in brain function. Additionally, it helps maintain healthy levels of acetylcholine which is a brain-enhancing ingredient that regulates cognitive function.

Citicoline supports mitochondria (powerhouses of cells that create energy for biochemical reactions) activity by generating ATP (energy currency of cells) to help sustain mental effort.

Cognizin® Citicoline is a powerhouse ingredient for brain performance.

Sharp-PS® Green (soy-free phosphatidylserine)

Phosphatidylserine
Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is considered a healthy fat or phospholipid that is important for regenerating brain cells, brain cell maintenance, and neurogenesis; creating new brain cells.

Consequently, this helps with cognitive function and performance and it translates to the regulation of important brain chemicals such as dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and acetylcholine.

According to a study, exogenous PS is effectively absorbed in the body and can decelerate or reverse biochemical alterations and structural deterioration in nerve cells (2).

This has positive effects on factors of memory, problem-solving, language, communication, reflexes, and reactions.

Although, it’s important to note that according to a report by the Mayo Clinic, the effects of the exogenous intake of PS may last shorter term and in those with less severe symptoms. But more research is needed although, PS has certainly shown to provide benefits.

Sharp-PS is, unlike most other PS products, is made from non-GMO sunflowers rather than soy.

Ajipure® L-tyrosine

L-tyrosine may be an ingredient you’re familiar with seeing on supplement labels.

L-Tyrosine
L-Tyrosine

So what does it do?

Well, physical activity can be stressful and depleting of important substances such as the brain chemicals dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, or catecholamines.

L-tyrosine is a precursor to catecholamines and has been shown to synthesize these brain chemicals and subsequently, potentially reduce certain factors of stress as a result of intense physical activity.

Although, according to a 2007 study, its effects may only go as far as to reduce certain factors of cognitive decline in response to some physical stressors (3).

L-tyrosine is not suitable as a general stress reducer but can help individuals to perform under stressful situations. That’s why it’s usually added to performance-aiding supplements like pre-workouts, for instance.

We should also mention that tyrosine may not provide any cognitive benefits and may even be detrimental for aging individuals, according to research from 2018 (4).

The studies on L-tyrosine are mixed and it seems to help maintain some factors of cognitive performance rather than enhancing it.

Maritime pine bark extract (95% proanthocyanidins)

Last but not least, Mind contains the ingredient Maritime pine bark extract that contains antioxidants called proanthocyanidins.

Proanthocyanidins
Proanthocyanidins

Antioxidants are known to prevent free radical damage to cells in the body and therefore, help to fight off disease.

This ingredient is also supposed to enhance nitric oxide release that widens blood vessels. This can be beneficial for nutrient delivery, heart, and sexual function, and muscle pumps.

Additionally, it should also help to maintain healthy brain function.

Because Maritime pine bark is standardized to 95% proanthocyanidins, Performance Lab calls it the “most potent pine bark extract available today”.

Other ingredients: NutriCaps® Pullulan capsule, NuFlow® Rice Concentrate.

Nutricaps are easy-to-swallow, 100% plant-based from pullulan (fermented tapioca), and prebiotic infused. This is supposed to help with digestion and nutrient delivery to ensure you get the most of each dose.

There are no animal products used in this formula.

Is There Potential For Side Effects With Mind?

From our research, Mind is safe to use for most healthy individuals long term. The ingredients are safe for consumption and strategically dosed to give results and prevent undesirable effects.

It’s also stim-free which means there’s no caffeine and therefore, no potential for stimulant-related side effects. The formula is also free from many unnecessary ingredients such as GMOs, gluten, colorants, preservatives, and additives.

It’s important that the product is used as recommended by the label for safety and to prevent any potential side effects.

Cost and Discount

So how much does Performance Lab Mind cost? That’s an important question…

Well, there are a few different purchase options. The more you buy, the more you save overall per bottle. There are 30 servings per bottle.

$207: 3 month supply + 1 box free (4 boxes total)

You’ll save the most money overall with this package even though you are paying a little more upfront.

Each box costs $51.75 which comes out to $1.73 per serving.

This option includes fast and free shipping.

$138: 2 month supply (2 boxes)

While you won’t save as much going this route, you’ll get two boxes for $69 each which comes out to $2.30 per serving. The good thing is shipping is also fast and free.

$69 + shipping: 1 month supply (1 box)

This is the best option if you just want to try out the product without committing to buying multiple boxes.

It is, however, the priciest option at $69/box. Shipping is not included and the total cost will depend on your location.

Easy To Swallow

Performance Lab Mind Worth The Buy and If so, Why?

Performance Lab Mind offers a unique blend of four ingredients that have been shown in studies to support mental performance.

The compounds were included to increase brain energy and enhance cognitive function by regenerating brains cells, forming new ones, and helping to maintain brain cell health.

Enhanced cognitive function and performance play a big role in physical performance and can many times mean the difference between progress and no progress whether it’s hitting a new pr, losing body fat or outperforming in your chosen sport or activity. That’s because cognitive function has a direct effect on factors like focus, speed, mood, motivation, and more.

But Mind may do just fine even if you don’t do much physical activity as herbal ingredients are a normal part of a health routine for many and it helps to improve their overall well-being. However, it is designed for performance.

Not to mention, there’s no caffeine or other stimulants in the product so you can experience the benefits without the potential for side effects.

There’s sufficient research to justify the addition of these ingredients in the formula.

We would recommend Performance Lab Mind based on our breakdown of the formula and its intended purpose.

But ultimately, you’ll have to try it out and see how it works for you.
