Pa O’Dwyer was one of the most positive figures in the Strongman community, always bringing joy with his cheerful spirit and offering true support for anyone that needed it. Unfortunately, shocking news emerged at the start of 2026, as the Irish Strongman passed away at the age of just 40 years old.

The news of Pa O’Dwyer’s passing was confirmed by Giants Live, who made a touching statement, with many other professional strongman athletes following suit. It is currently unknown what the exact cause of death is. Pa leaves behind his partner and three children.

“Pa was a true strongman but an even greater human being and, without doubt, one of the funniest, most unforgettable characters the world has ever known.

He brought strength, laughter and warmth wherever he went and truly was one of life’s larger-than-life personalities. Anyone who met him will surely have a story to tell.

He earned many titles, but the one he cherished most was simply ‘Dad’. Pa leaves behind his three beautiful children — Sienna, Rocco, and Freddy — and his partner Layna. He loved them more than life itself, as he would always say,” wrote Giants Live.

Pa O’Dwyer’s sports journey started nearly two decades ago. In his early twenties, he spent a lot of time drinking and hanging around the pub. His time in the gym made him realize how much potential he had in strength sports. So, at around 27 years old, Pa O’Dwyer transitioned to Strongman and made his debut. After accumulating some experience, Pa started competing on the international scene and facing off against some of the greatest Strongmen in history.

Pa O’Dwyer did not wait long to start securing gold medals, as he quickly became Ireland’s Strongest Man. He would end up winning the competition four more times over the course of his career. Moreover, Pa was also crowned the UK’s Strongest Man in 2018.

Among other achievements, Pa O’Dwyer also made three appearances at the World’s Strongest Man competition. He recently completed one of the most insane transformations, losing 39.9 kilograms (88 pounds) of bodyweight. However, while he left everyone in awe, the community is left wondering if it had an effect on his health.
