Fitness challenges have been all the rage on social media inspiring many to make dramatic transformations to their health and lifestyles. Influencer Laurie Shaw is an avid sports and fitness enthusiast documenting his adventures. Recently sharing a video on his YouTube channel, he set out to do 100 burpees for 30 days consecutively.
Amassing just under 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, Shaw frequently takes on difficult challenges to put his strength and stamina to the test. From running a mile every day for a month to doing 100 push-ups in 10 minutes, Laurie Shaw likes to exceed the limits of traditional workouts.

With the goal set to complete 3,000 burpees in just 30 days, Laurie Shaw starts day one demonstrating how to complete a proper burpee.
“So we start standing up like this. Jump down into this push-up position and then we sort of do a full push-up touching the ground, chest to the ground, push it all the way back up, it’s not like stepping in, it’s jumping with both feet before you then hump up” said Laurie Shaw.

After burpee session after burpee session, Shaw offered some of his biggest takeaways from the fitness endeavor:
“As you might imagine, once we did get them done, it felt so much better having them out of the way for the rest of the day. We got them done in the morning again for a whole week in a row. Yeah, feeling good. The burpees didn’t get any easier. Well, I guess they did get easier in the sense that once we formed the habit of getting them done in the morning it became a habit so it was easier that way.
I think I’m slowly adopting the mindset of just waking up and getting them done. Not questioning if I should do it later. But the actual reps themselves, the full set of 100, it never really felt like it got easier. I think that’s because as we got faster and faster and stronger and fitter, we just pushed ourselves harder. It’s a push every time we do them. I’m quite tired afterward,” added Shaw.
Following a grand total of 30 days of torturous burpees, Shaw reported his staggering results, showcasing a far more ripped and muscular physique than his starting point look. As a result of his latest fitness journey, his weight dropped from 181.8 pounds to 179.2 pounds, a net weight decrease of 2.6 pounds.
Laurie Shaw’s burpee fitness challenge is a unique and effective way to tone the body but apparently, if weight loss is your goal perhaps a different route should be taken. In another example of testing the limits, fellow social media guru Mark Zuckerberg took on the Murph challenge and killed it in under 40 minutes.
