Dana White Dismisses Nate Diaz Trilogy Bout
UFC chief Dana White says the only fight that makes sense and “has to happen” is a fight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and the interim champion Tony Ferguson.
After his dominant victory over Kevin Lee via a submission at UFC 216, Tony Ferguson wasted no time in calling out lightweight champion Conor McGregor for a possible fight.
During his post-fight interview, Ferguson was forthright in comments about McGregor, either fight him or vacate the belt:
“Where you at, McNuggets, you fu*kin’ piece of sh*t? I’m gonna kick your ass. You better fu*kin’ come and defend that belt. Defend or vacate, motherfu*ker!”
Well that escalated quickly 😂 #UFC216pic.twitter.com/VmRDV4avyz

Dana White confirmed and shut down “internet bulls***” that McGregor will face Nate Diaz in his next fight for a trilogy bout.
“Nobody’s talked about Diaz. Diaz has never been talked about. That’s internet bullsh*t,” White said.
The UFC president said the only fight that makes sense and has to happen is McGregor vs. Ferguson.
“Tony’s the interim champion, Conor’s the champion, that’s the fight that makes sense. It’s the fight that has to happen, it doesn’t ‘make sense,’ it’s the fight that has to happen.”
White admitted that he hadn’t spoken to McGregor about the matchup
“We didn’t specifically talk about it, but we did talk about it kind of. He wants to fight again this year. He does want to fight again this year…so he went and partied for a while, and I went home for a while – you got to let him blow off some steam and then figure it out.”
White said that McGregor vs. Ferguson will be a great fight as Ferguson likes to come forward.
“Tony’s a busy guy,” White said. “He keeps coming forward, he keeps throwing all kinds of different things at ya. And Conor’s awesome. There’s no way that’s not a great fight. Impossible.”
Conor McGregor vs. Tony Ferguson will be an epic clash for the lightweight title to look forward to. Who’s your money on? Let us know in the comments!
