The Loading Race turned out to be very exciting and tense, but just two women managed to break the 40-second milestone. The faster of the two was Laura Baxter with a time of 37.76 seconds to complete all three events. So, she won the event and took the maximum 12 points available.
Lucy Underdown was the second woman below 40 seconds, finishing just 1.5 seconds behind Laura. So, she also had an incredible start to the competition, finishing ahead of her biggest rival, Rebecca Roberts.
Luckily for Rebecca, she finished in third place in the Loading Race, dropping just one point to Lucy. In fact, just 1.2 seconds separated the two, proving how tight the race was.
- Laura Baxter — 3 in 37.76 s
- Lucy Underdown — 3 in 39.28 s
- Rebecca Roberts — 3 in 40.43 s
- Donna Moore — 3 in 42.09 s

Event Two — Dumbbell Press
The Dumbbell Press is a well-known event in the Strongwoman and Strongman communities, as it often finds its place in elite competitions. This time, the athletes had to pick up and overhead press a 60-kilogram (13.3-pound) dumbbell for as many reps as possible. While they were allowed to use both arms to lift the dumbbell up to their shoulder, the women had to press the dumbbell with just one arm of their choosing.
The Dumbbell Press event turned out to be way too difficult for the majority of the lineup, since only five athletes managed to get any reps on the board. However, it wasn’t too difficult of a task for Donna Moore, who managed to lock out 6 repetitions with ease. In turn, she easily took the win.
Andrea Thompson had the second highest number of reps, accumulating five of them in the given time limit. She is known for her incredible overhead pressing strength, meaning that it wasn’t much of a surprise that she placed so high.
Laura Baxter and Lucy Underdown both performed four reps, which forced them into a tie for third place. Due to this, they had to share the points, and each of them got 9.5.
- Donna Moore — 6 reps
- Andrea Thompson — 5 reps
- Laura Baxter — 4 reps
- Lucy Underdown — 4 reps
- Rebecca Roberts — 2 reps
- Nicola Bennett — No Lift
- Naomi Hadley — No Lift
- Claire Myler — No Lift
- Katie Smith — No Lift
- Gemma Moore — No Lift
- Chloe Brennan — No Lift
- Faye Pittman —No Lift
Event Three — Deadlift
The midway point of 2024 Britain’s Strongest Woman was the Deadlift for reps. In this case, the women had to pull 220 kilograms (485 pounds) for as many repetitions as possible. They also used an Axle bar, which is much thicker than the standard one and does not allow any slack.
The deadlift was a completely different story from the Dumbbell Press, with all women getting a decent number of repetitions. However, no one could match the deadlift queen, Lucy Underdown, since she ended up locking out 13 repetitions. So, everyone else battled for second place.
The second place ended up going to Rebecca Roberts, as she also impressed with tremendous deadlifting skills. Her tally came out to 11 reps, two behind Lucy, but also two ahead of the closest athlete behind.
Andrea Thompson and Naomi Hadley were both chasing Rebecca but ended up tying for third-place among themselves with 9 repetitions each.
- Lucy Underdown — 13 reps
- Rebecca Roberts — 11 reps
- Andrea Thompson — 9 reps
- Naomi Hadley — 9 reps
- Donna Moore — 8 reps
- Claire Myler — 8 reps
- Katie Smith — 8 reps
- Laura Baxter — 5 reps
- Nicola Bennett — 5 reps
- Gemma Moore — 5 reps
- Chloe Brennan — 3 reps
- Faye Pittman — 2 reps
Event Four — Wrecking Ball Hold
Moving onto the penultimate event of the 2024 Britain’s Strongest Woman, the athletes took on the challenge of holding the huge 225-kg (496-lb) Wrecking Ball. So, their grip strength was put to the test, but their performances also depended on their mental capability to endure the tremendous pain that comes with this event. The ultimate goal was to hold the wrecking ball for the longest amount of time possible.
Grip events are always unpredictable, but one woman that often performs well is Lucy Underdown. She did once again in the wrecking ball event, managing to hold the implement for a total of 93.22 seconds, which was more than enough to bring her the second consecutive event win.
Rebecca Roberts once again had to settle for a second place finish behind Lucy Underdown. She finished with a time of 90.70 seconds, beating every other person by a pretty significant margin.
Naomi Hadley and Donna Moore were both looking to round up the top three, but only one could be successful. Less than two seconds ended up separating them, with Hadley getting the upper hand on Moore.
- Lucy Underdown — 93.22 s
- Rebecca Roberts — 90.70 s
- Naomi Hadley — 82.88 s
- Donna Moore — 81.12 s
- Chloe Brennan — 79.19 s
- Laura Baxter — 74.01 s
- Nicola Bennett — 68.54 s
- Katie Smith — 57.58 s
- Andrea Thompson — 56.80 s
- Claire Myler — 49.73 s
- Gemma Moore — 49.48 s
- Faye Pittman — 11.42 s
Event Five — Castle Stones
The final hurdle of the competition was perhaps the most popular event in the sport — a series of heavy Castle Stones. Specifically, it consisted of four boulders ranging in weight from 80-kg (176.4-lb) to 140-kg (308.6-lb). The goal was to load all of them onto the platform within the given time limit of 60 seconds.
The castle stones were the final opportunity for all the athletes to improve their spots on the leaderboards. Lucy Underdown didn’t allow anyone to take the top spot from her hands, winning the third consecutive event to also win the 2024 Britain’s Strongest Woman competition. She finished all four stones in a time of 23.50 seconds.
Donna Moore finished all four stones in 29.22 seconds, finishing in second place in the event and hoping to secure a silver medal overall. However, for that to happen, Rebecca Roberts would have had to drop a few positions on the final event.
That was not the case, though, as Rebecca Roberts finished in third place of the event with a time of 33.99 seconds to complete the event. In turn, Roberts remained in second place overall, while Moore had to settle for a bronze medal.
- Lucy Underdown — 4 in 23.50 s
- Donna Moore — 4 in 29.22 s
- Rebecca Roberts — 4 in 33.88 s
- Katie Smith — 4 in 34.18 s
- Naomi Hadley — 4 in 35.46 s
- Laura Baxter — 3 in 20.23 s
- Chloe Brennan — 3 in 26.80 s
- Claire Myler — 3 in 27.11 s
- Gemma Moore — 3 in 40.47 s
- Andrea Thompson — 3 in 41.34 s
- Nicola Bennett — 2 in 13.38 s
- Faye Pittman — 2 in 18.64 s
