The 2024 CrossFit Open Workout 24.1 was revealed on February 29th in California, thus opening up the first stage of this year’s CrossFit Games season. The workout consists of multiple physically, mentally, and technically demanding exercises, making it the perfect way to see who the most notable athletes are at this point in the season.

The 2024 CrossFit Open has over 100,000 participants, making it one of the largest events in the world, especially when it comes to fitness and strength sports. This year’s CrossFit Open consists of three workouts, with the 24.1 being the first one. The remaining two will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

The 2024 CrossFit Open Workout 24.1 is demonstrated by duels between four world-class athletes. They are separated into the women’s duel featuring Alex Gazan vs Alexis Raptis, and the men’s duel, where Jeffrey Adler and Brent Fikowski will battle it out.

Women’s Duel

Two young prodigies took on each other in the women’s portion of the duel, as Alex Gazan and Alexis Raptis took on the task of being the first to perform the workout. Both women are familiar with each other, having gone head-to-head on multiple occasions.

The women’s duel looked almost synchronized for the opening part of it. At one point, it seemed that Alex Gazan was more effective when it came to performing burpees. However, Alexis Raptis proved to be incredibly durable and managed to get slightly ahead. In the end, Raptis beat Gazan by a margin of 15 seconds.

  1. Alexis Raptis: 6:36.70
  2. Alex Gazan: 6:51.60

Alex Gazan and Alexis Raptis were also in a direct battle for the top five at the 2023 CrossFit Games. Alex Gazan won that duel, finishing in fifth place overall, 15 points ahead of Alexis Raptis. Now it is finally time for them to face each other once again.

Men’s Duel

Jeffrey Adler took part in the men’s duel during the reveal of 2024 CrossFit Open Workout 24.1, which brought in a lot of excitement. There was no better man to demonstrate the workout, as he has been crowned the 2023 Fittest Man on Earth. Jeffrey has also competed in all CrossFit Games editions since 2019, displaying incredible consistency.

The second participant in the men’s duel also came from Canada, as it was Brent Fikowski, a true CrossFit Games veteran. He has taken part in eight editions of the sport’s greatest competition, making the podium on two occasions with three additional top five finishes. So, if there is someone who can rival Jeffrey Adler, it is definitely Brent Fikowski

Jeffrey Adler opened up with an extremely fast pace, building up a 15-rep lead by the 4:30 minute mark. Moreover, while it is often the case that people can not hold such a high pace for a long time, Jeffrey Adler managed to keep it up and dominate the 2024 CrossFit Open Workout 24.1. Brent Fikowski was also incredible, but was simply outshined by Adler, who is clearly determined to defend his CrossFit Games title this year.

  1. Jeffrey Adler: 6:10.00
  2. Brent Fikowski: 6:39.50

Remaining CrossFit Open Workouts

  • Workout 24.2: Reveal Ceremony on March 7th / Submissions Due Until March 11th
  • Workout 24.3: Reveal Ceremony on March 14th / Submissions Due Until March 18th

Unlike the men’s and women’s duels at the Workout 24.1 presenting ceremony, the remaining two workout reveals will be demonstrated by just one duel each. However, both matchups are already attracting some excitement, as Justin Medeiros will go against Colten Mertens (Workout 24.2), while Tia-Clair Toomey will take on Arielle Loewen (Workout 24.3).
