The 2024 Strongest Man on Earth competition will take place on August 17–18 in Loveland, CO. Over the years, the competition has climbed up the ranks and is now definitely one of the greatest ones that take place in a season. Well, Brian Shaw has now started revealing details about the competition on YouTube, starting off with all of the events that will be featured.
The 2024 Strongest Man on Earth will consist of eight events, all of which will be packed into two days of incredible action. Once again, the events will make up for one of the heaviest and most difficult Strongman competitions of the season, which should show who the Strongest Man on Earth is.

Brian Shaw Details the Events of the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth
While the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth might seem like a brand new competition because of its name, it is just the continuation of the Men’s Pro division which was previously called the Shaw Classic.

The reason for the name change is because Brian Shaw got the rights to the title of “Strongest Man on Earth” in 2023. So, this will be the first edition of Brian Shaw’s competition that is officially called the “Strongest Man on Earth.
“We have got a few questions about whether it is officially the ‘Strongest Man on Earth’ or the Shaw Classic… The Shaw Classic is the entire weekend.
‘The Strongest Man on Earth’ is the pro men’s contest that happens at the Shaw Classic.”
Max Deadlift (Event One)
Note: The order of the events at the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth is not yet decided, except for the first and last one. So, the max deadlift will definitely be the first event of the competition, but the remaining events are in no specific order.
The opening event of the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth competition will be the Max Deadlift. However, contrary to most competitions, Brian has decided that the deadlift will have to be performed raw. So, the only pieces of equipment that the athletes will be allowed to use are a lifting belt and regular lifting straps (No figure eight straps).
“There will be no deadlift suits allowed… When it comes to Strongman, it really is the wild west with supportive gear. If you do the deadlift, you’ll see the athletes come out in a single-ply suit up to a triple-ply suit… It is really taking away from the deadlift.
I want to see what the competitors are capable of with a (raw) max deadlift… The guys will be able to call their weights. We are not going to have pre-set weight jumps for them to do.”
Overhead Medley
The 2024 Strongest Man on Earth will also feature a complex Overhead Medley. Not only will the athletes have to overhead press different implements like logs and axles, but they will also need to move from one to the other effectively.
“We are having some new implements made there that we will be able to showcase as well.”
Power Medley
The full format of the Power Medley event is still not decided, but the overall basics for this test of strength looked really appealing to Brian Shaw. He states that it will have some moving aspects and that it will require grip strength. So, in his words, “it should be fun to watch”.
The Manhood Stones
The Manhood Stones event will feature implements similar to Atlas Stones, but the format of the event will be completely different. Multiple stones will be placed in front of the athletes, and they will choose which one they want to lift. Ultimately, the athlete who lifts the heavier stone will get the advantage. In cases where athletes lift the same, the total number of reps performed with those stones will be looked at. Moreover, the heaviest stone will weigh a massive 600 pounds (272.2 kilograms).
“This is an event that I asked for a number of years ago, and it never happened. Now, with me not competing, this is a great opportunity to plug this in. If you are stronger at lifting stones, you are going to get rewarded… In the contest, we want to showcase strength.”
Circus Dumbbell Overhead Medley
The format of this event has been seen in some other elite competitions, but it still remains one of the most exciting tests of strength. To complete it, athletes will take on a series of progressively heavier weights, each of which has to be overhead pressed with one arm.
Keg Toss
In previous years, the Shaw Classic featured the bag toss event. However, in 2024 the Strongest Man on Earth will feature the Keg Toss. Specifically, athletes will attempt to throw a keg over a high beam.
The twist with this event is that the beam will increase in height after each throw, which is something that has seemingly never been done in a major Strongman competition. So, Brian Shaw continues to bring new innovations into the sport.
Moreover, Brian Shaw will give the athletes an opportunity to break the Keg Toss World Record, which is currently held by him. He hopes that, as the bar rises, one of the competitors manages to exceed his record. For reference, Brian set the Keg Toss record at the 2021 World’s Strongest Man, where he threw a 15-kilogram (33.1-pound) keg over a 7.75-meter high beam.
Squat
Although it is a great test of strength, the squat is something that is rarely seen in top level Strongman competitions. So, Brian Shaw decided to incorporate it into the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth.
Once again, Shaw and his team are working on building a special setup for the contest. The exact design of the setup is not yet decided, but it will revolve around the basic squat motion.
“We are going to build a new squat setup for this contest. It is going to be incredible!”
Fingal’s Fingers x Power Stairs Medley
The final event of the competition will once again be the Fingal’s Fingers x Power Stairs Medley. The event also wrapped up the 2023 Shaw Classic and proved to be quite entertaining. So, Brian Shaw had no second thoughts about bringing it back for the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth.
In order to perform the event, the athletes will need to flip over multiple heavy metal beams known as the Fingal’s Fingers. Then, they will move towards a flight of stairs, where they will have to carry multiple extremely heavy implements.
“I really and truly feel that this list of events is an incredible test of strength. I think that, within those events, we are going to see the Strongest Man on Earth win this contest, without a doubt.”

With a few details still left to iron out, including the finalizing of the athlete lineup, the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth is on course to be one of the best competitions of the year. So, even Hafthor Bjornsson is tempted to join the lineup, as per his comment under Shaw’s video:
“I can definitely say I’m really tempted to compete this year. 👀” wrote Hafthor.
So, since Hafthor Bjornsson won’t compete in the 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition, the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth might feature the strongest lineup of the season, depending on the remainder of the competitors.
