The 2025 CrossFit Games are taking place on August 1-3 in Albany, New York, hosting a total of 60 individual athletes (30 men and 30 women) along with 20 teams. After a grueling day one, Tia-Clair Toomey took the lead in the women’s division, while Jayson Hopper and Jay Crouch tied for first among men. On the other hand, Camel City CrossFit secured first place in the Team division going into day two.
Tia-Clair Toomey could not have wished for a better start to the 2025 CrossFit Games. She won the first two events. However, she had a mishap on the third event. Specifically, her shoes kept slipping on the pegboard, which cost her a significant amount of points. Tia-Clair placed 16th in the event but still held on to a slight lead overall.
Jayson Hopper and Jay Crouch tied for the lead in the men’s division after day one of the 2025 CrossFit Games concluded. Ricky Garard held the lead up until the third event, where he ended up dropping a lot of points. Hopper and Crouch capitalized on his mistake and took over first place.
The Team division continued to show why it belongs with the Individuals, as 20 groups of four athletes put on a show on day one. CrossFit Oslo Kriger won the first two events, but Camel City CrossFit ended up in first place after day one due to their consistency across all four events.

Day One Recap for Individuals
Individual Event 1 — Run Row Run
The event that kickstarted the 2025 CrossFit Games was quite simple but still captured the essence of the sport. It consisted of just two exercises, which proved to be a demanding test of fitness. The athletes first had to run four miles, after which they sat down on the rowing machine to complete a distance of 3,000 meters. They then got up and went for another two-mile run. The goal of the event was to complete the entire event in the shortest time possible.
For time:
- 4-mile run
- 3,000-meter row
- 2-mile run
Men’s Results
Jeffrey Adler lost his title last year but proved that he is back in contention at the 2025 CrossFit Games. He was the fastest runner out of all 30 male athletes, which allowed him to comfortably cross the finish line in first place without major pressure from any other athlete. The winning time came out to 46:16.00
Roman Khrennikov approached the race very strategically, letting Ricky Garard and Jeffrey Adler take the lead on the 4-mile run. He understood that his power on the rowing machine would allow him to catch up and take over the lead. However, Roman was unable to hold off Jeffrey on the 2-mile run, thus having to settle for second place with a time of 46:26.00.
Ricky Garard tried to keep up with Jeffrey Adler, successfully maintaining an identical pace throughout the 4-mile run. However, his time on the rowing machine clearly had an exhausting effect, as Jeffrey and Roman gained a significant lead on him. As a result, Ricky finished in third place, finishing the event at 46:45.00.
- Jeffrey Adler — 46:16.00
- Roman Khrennikov — 46:26.00
- Ricky Garard — 46:45.00
- Austin Hatfield — 47:41.00
- Jay Crouch — 47:50.00
- Kalyan Souza — 48:01.00

- Chris Ibarra — 49:06.00
- Harry Lightfoot — 49:36.00
Women’s Results
Tia-Clair Toomey was the clear favorite for the event win from the start, quickly establishing a lead and continuing to increase the distance between her and other competitors throughout the entire workout. Tia-Clair’s Hyrox training clearly paid off, as she beat the majority of male athletes as well. Her final time came out to 49:49.00.
Aimee Cringle got off to a great start at the 2025 CrossFit Games. She finished in second place, finishing 27 seconds behind Tia-Clair Toomey. However, while it might seem that Aimee was far behind first place, she was also comfortably ahead of the other 28 female competitors.
Lucy Campbell made sure not to spend too much energy during the first half of the event. This worked out well for her, as she was able to hold a fast pace in the 2-mile run, taking over third place and finishing the event with a time of 51:36.00.
- Tia-Clair Toomey — 49:49.00
- Aimee Cringle — 50:16.00
- Lucy Campbell — 51:36.00
- Haley Adams — 52:02.00
- Arielle Loewen — 52:16.00

Individual Event 2 — All Crossed Up
The second individual event at the 2025 CrossFit Games was more complex, featuring a variety of exercises designed to test a broad range of skills. Athletes demonstrated their abilities through Wall Walks, Dumbbell overhead presses, Double Unders, and Toes to Bars. This setup demanded well-roundedness, as any weakness could have led to a significant drop in points.
For time (10-minute time cap):
- 20 Wall Walks
- 10 Dumbbell Shoulder-to-Overheads (Women: 70-lb, Men: 100-lb)
- 20 Double-Under Cross-Overs
- 30 Toes-to-Bars
- 20 Double-Under Cross-Overs
- 10 Dumbbell Shoulder-to-Overheads (Women: 70-lb, Men: 100-lb)
- 20 Double-Under Cross-Overs
- 30 Toes-to-Bar
- 20 Double-Under Cross-Overs
- 10 Dumbbell Shoulder-to-Overheads (Women: 70-lb, Men: 100-lb)
Men’s Results
Ricky Garard was not the quickest to come off the first set of Wall Walks, but he managed to take over the lead largely thanks to his strength in the dumbbell overhead press. He also managed to perform double-under cross-overs perfectly, saving time where many athletes stumbled and slowed down. His official result turned out to be 6:06.46.
Although Ricky Garard’s performance was great, he did not take the win easily. Instead, he was placed under a lot of pressure by the 2x Fittest Man On Earth, Justin Medeiros. The difference between the two came out to 0.35 seconds, which goes to show that Justin also had an incredible run.
Jay Crouch performed the event in the lane next to Ricky Garard and definitely held his own throughout it. Chasing Garard helped Jay pick up the pace, leading him to a third-place finish. Interestingly, Jay and Ricky are also training partners.
- Ricky Garard — 6:06.46
- Justin Medeiros — 6:06.81
- Jay Crouch — 6:15.59
- Jayson Hopper — 6:33.43

- Austin Hatfield — 6:49.48
- Roman Khrennikov — 6:54.37
Women’s Results
Tia-Clair Toomey continued pushing toward her 8th CrossFit Games title with yet another event win. She made sure to perform the wall walks, double unders, and toes-to-bars perfectly, as any invalidated reps by the judges could have cost her the win. So, despite being slower than some other athletes on the dumbbell overhead press, Tia-Clair still managed to take 100 points with a time of 6:23.98.
Danielle Brandon held on to Tia-Clair Toomey throughout the entire event. She nearly overtook her on the dumbbell overhead press, showing off an impressively quick rate of reps and making easy work out of the 70-pound implement. Brandon ended up being five seconds slower than Tia-Clair, which put her in second place.
Aimee Cringle was the only other female athlete that managed to finish the event in under seven minutes. So, she earned a third-place finish for herself. This came following a second-place finish in event one, making Aimee one of the contenders for a podium finish overall.
- Tia-Clair Toomey — 6:23.98
- Danielle Brandon — 6:28.63
- Aimee Cringle — 6:38.19
- Lucy McGonigle — 7:00.19

- Madeline Sturt — 7:20.19
- Lucy Campbell — 7:22.74
Individual Event 3 — Climbing Couplet
The final individual event on day one of the 2025 CrossFit Games was the Climbing Couplet. It was a timed event, meaning that the athletes had only one goal — finish the entire event in the shortest time possible. In order to do so, they had to perform four sets of 4-3-2-1 reps for two exercises. The first exercise was the pegboard crossover. The second exercise relied on a barbell, as athletes had to perform a squat clean followed by a front squat. As the reps got lower with each set, the weight of the barbell progressively increased.
4-3-2-1 reps for time of:
- Pegboard
- Squat clean + front squat
Women: 145, 165, 185, 205-lb
Men: 235, 265, 285, 305-lb
Men’s Results
Jayson Hopper walked off the floor with an additional 100 points from event three, having topped the leaderboards with a time of 5 minutes and 34 seconds. He set up a towel next to the pegboard, making sure to wipe off his shoes and gain extra grip. With this, Jayson avoided the problem that many had and gained multiple seconds of advantage. With this win, Jayson Hopper ended the day in first place overall.

Roman Khrennikov added another second-place event finish to his collection. He was four seconds slower than Hopper, but also three seconds quicker than the next best man. The battle for third place came down to just a fraction of a second, since Harry Lightfoot was 0.10 seconds quicker than Justin Medeiros.
Ricky Garard had a performance similar to Tia-Clair Toomey’s. He came into the event as the overall leader but ended up finishing in 14th place, allowing his rivals to catch up overall. He ended up losing his first place overall as a result of his mistake.
- Jayson Hopper — 5:34.90
- Roman Khrennikov — 5:38.67
- Harry Lightfoot — 5:41.48

- James Sprague — 6:11.92
- Tudor Magda — 6:38.05
- Colten Mertens — 6:52.11
Women’s Results
The pegboard climbs turned out to be one of the more difficult tasks for the women at the 2025 CrossFit Games. One woman who did not struggle was Feerozeh Saghafi, finishing the event in 8 minutes and 33 seconds. She was a minute quicker than the next best woman and the only one who finished in under nine minutes.
Lydia Fish continued putting up great performances, taking second place with a time of 9 minutes and 30 seconds. She was followed by Siria Meha, who is a young athlete making her debut at the CrossFit Games. Siria finished with a time of 9:41 seconds, showing that she definitely has a bright future in the sport.
Surprisingly, Tia-Clair Toomey finished in 16th place with a time that exceeded 12 minutes. She struggled with her footwear, as it continuously kept slipping on the pegboard. In turn, she put unnecessary strain on her upper body muscles.
- Feeroozeh Saghafi — 08:33.24
- Lydia Fish — 09:30.58
- Siria Meha — 09:41.98
- Olivia Kerstetter — 09:55.15

Day One Recap for Teams
Team Event 1 — Team Run/Row/Run
The first event for the Team’s division was exactly the same as the one for Individuals. The only difference was that the entire team had to complete the 4-mile run, 3,000-meter row, and 2-mile run for the stopwatch to register an official time. The times from all four athletes in a team were added together to come up with a total score for each team.
For time:
- 4-mile run
- 3K row
- 2-mile run
CrossFit Oslo Kriger had the quickest combined time of all four athletes. It came out to 3:33:32, with all members of the team having a great showing. One of the most notable performances came from Kristen Holte, who joined CrossFit Oslo Kriger just a couple of days before the 2025 CrossFit Games. So, although she did not have much time to prepare, Kristen still managed to put up a time that would have been top ten in the individual women’s division as well.
Blueprint CrossFit Team AOD finished just two minutes after CrossFit Oslo Kriger and ranked second in the opening event of the 2025 CrossFit Games. Ojay Keen was the standout athlete, absolutely crushing the event at the age of 35-years-old. Team Camel City CrossFit finished an additional 1.5 minutes later to secure the third place.
- CrossFit Oslo Kriger — 3:33:32.00
- Blueprint CrossFit Team AOD — 3:35:58.00
- Camel City CrossFit — 3:37:30.00
- 8th Day CrossFit — 3:39:05.00

- CrossFit 4 Friends Smart — 3:45:23.00
Team Event 2 — Conga Line
The second event of the 2025 CrossFit Games in the Team division separated each group into two pairs (one male and one female). Each pair then had to complete a series of synchronized movements, including double-unders and toes-to-bars. This not only tested the fitness level of each team, but also the coordination between members of the group as well.
For time in MF/MF pairs, each pair completes:
- 15 wall walks
- 75 synchro double-unders
- 30 synchro toes-to-bars
- 75 synchro double-unders
- 30 synchro toes-to-bars
Then,
- 30 Worm cleans
The second event of the 2025 CrossFit Games for the Team division proved to be extremely difficult. So, it is not a surprise that only one team managed to complete the entire workout and cross the finish line. That team was CrossFit Oslo Kriger, who won the opening event as well. Even they barely managed to finish the event before the 10-minute time cap ran out.
While Camel City CrossFit did not technically finish the event, they did complete all repetitions that were put up as a requirement. However, they did not have enough time to cross the final few meters that separated them from the finish line. Their performance still gave them a respectable second-place finish.
CrossFit Butcher’s Lab Vanløse finished in third place, missing out on just three repetitions in the final task of the event. They completed 28 worm cleans when the buzzer went off and indicated that the time limit was up.
- CrossFit Oslo Kriger — 9:56.42
- Camel City CrossFit — CAP
- CrossFit Butcher’s Lab Vanløse — CAP+2
- CrossFit Le Repere Mayhem — CAP+3
- CrossFit Mayhem — CAP+5
- CrossFit PRVN — CAP+6
- CrossFit Body Blueprint Conquer — CAP+7
- Blueprint CrossFit Team AOD — CAP+7

- CrossFit Franco’s EMOM Co — CAP+9
Team Event 3 & 4 — It’s Complex
The final task of day one at the 2025 CrossFit Games for the Team division consisted of two events combined. The teams first had five minutes to perform as many pegboard climbs as possible, which was listed as Event Three and carried a point system of its own. Then, without any rest, they moved on to Event Four, where they had another five minutes to perform as many reps as possible in a lifting complex.
In FF/MM pairs, complete:
- Max pegboard climbs in 5 minutes (Team Event 3)
- Max-reps lifting complex in 5 minutes (Team Event 4)
Women: 95-lb
Men: 135-lb
Team Event 3 Results — Pegboard Climbs
CrossFit Mayhem took the win in the first part of the complex, which was officially scored as Event Three. The women went out first, performing as many pegboard climbs as possible and setting the pace for the men. When the women finished, they headed straight to event four without a second of rest. Mayhem performed 35 pegboard climbs to take 100 points. They had time to perform more but opted not to, having built up a massive lead with half a minute left. So, they used the time to rest.
The winner of event three was clear, but the battle for second place came down to the wire. CrossFit le Repere ended up taking the position with 33 repetitions, beating Camel City CrossFit by just a single repetition.
- CrossFit Mayhem — 35 reps
- CrossFit Le Repere — 33 reps
- Camel City CrossFit — 32 reps
- Q21 CrossFit — 31 reps
- CrossFit Greater Heights — 30 reps
- CrossFit Butcher’s Lab Vanløse — 29 reps
- CrossFit PRVN — 29 reps
- 8th Day CrossFit — 28 reps
- TTT CrossFit — 28 reps
- CrossFit Franco’s — 28 reps
Team Event 4 Results — Lifting Complex
The Lifting Complex, a.k.a. Event Four, was performed straight after the third workout. So, the athletes came into it already fatigued from the previous task. However, they still had to perform as many reps as possible of Squat Snatch + Overhead Squat. CrossFit 1124 ended up taking the win, as its members performed multiple unbroken reps at a time. They displayed great strength and endurance, but also amazing technique.
CrossFit Oslo Kriger took second place with a total of 94 repetitions. They, however, had to share the position with CrossFit Butcher’s Lab Vanløse, as the team from Denmark performed an identical number of reps.
- CrossFit 1124 — 95 reps
- CrossFit Butcher’s Lab Vanløse — 94 reps
- CrossFit Oslo Kriger — 94 reps
