Tia-Clair Toomey is indisputably the greatest female athlete ever seen in the sport of CrossFit, and is considered the best overall by a large portion of the community. She is a 7x CrossFit Games Individual champion, which shows just how dominant she has been over the years. However, it seems that her time in the sport might be coming to an end, as Tia-Clair has teased her potential retirement in a recent YouTube video.
Tia-Clair Toomey has not officially announced her retirement, which means that there is still a chance that we see her compete at the 2025 CrossFit Games later this year. However, she did reflect on her career so far and highlighted her upcoming appearance at the 2025 Torian Pro Semifinal, where she wants to “say goodbye to this chapter”.

Tia-Clair Toomey first revealed what her ideal ‘sunset ride’ looks like, with key aspects of it being her family. This phrase usually represents some kind of a closure or an end of a chapter, which indicates that Tia-Clair could be talking about her potential retirement from CrossFit.

“I think my sunset ride is my daughter in my arms, you know, my husband right next to me and we’re on an adventure that we have no idea what we’re about to endure… When I look back on the 10-plus years that we’ve been doing this, when we very first embarked on this CrossFit journey, we never knew what was possible and we couldn’t have even imagined what we’ve accomplished.”
Tia-Clair Toomey also pointed out how much CrossFit changed her life, as the skills she learned helped her in more ways than one. So, the sport helped her grow from a ‘green little girl,’ as she calls it, to one of the greatest athletes in the history of all sports.
“I would 100% believe that CrossFit has evolved me into an even better human being and athlete. You know, I think about who I was prior to CrossFit and I was such a young, green little girl. And over the course of my career, what I’ve been able to learn and apply in the gym has definitely been something that I’ve learned to apply outside the gym.”
Tia-Clair Toomey touched on the topic of her upcoming appearance at the 2025 Torian Pro CrossFit Semifinal, indicating that it just might be her last ever performance on the competition floor. She addressed it as the end of a chapter, which, in context with her other statements, suggests that she might be retiring.
“As most of you know, in May I’m taking the floor at a Torian Pro. But this time it’s different. This time it’s my moment to say goodbye to this chapter. This sport has given me everything—every challenge, every triumph, and, most importantly, the incredible community that surrounds it.”
Tia-Clair Toomey’s home country is Australia, which is why she is so determined to go back to her roots and take part in the Torian Pro, which will take place in Brisbane, Queensland, on May 30 – June 1.
“Competing to be the most dominant athlete in CrossFit history has been my life, my passion, and my purpose… Now it feels only right to bring it full circle—celebrating where it all began, in the place that ignited the drive and determination to pursue this path.”

If she does actually retire from CrossFit after the Torian Pro, Tia-Clair Toomey will leave behind a legacy that might not be surpassed for an extremely long time. While there are countless records and milestones that she set throughout the years, Tia-Clair’s biggest achievement is being the winningest individual athlete of all time, seeing that she was the Fittest Woman on Earth on seven occasions. She has also won the Rogue Invitational four times, in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024.
Even if this marks the end of Tia-Clair Toomey’s era in CrossFit, she will most likely still remain very active, as she has shown tons of excitement for the sport of Hyrox. In fact, she plans on competing at the World Championships in June, which could mark the start of a brand-new chapter for her.
