The 2025 CrossFit Open took place in an online format over the course of three weeks and was nothing short of spectacular. It started on February 27th and officially concluded on March 17th. It took some time to validate all of the results, but the winners of the Open have now been announced. Colten Mertens was the champion in the men’s division, while Mirjam von Rohr topped the women’s leaderboards.
It is estimated that over 200,000 people participated in the 2025 CrossFit Open across all divisions, which once again shows that it is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Consequently, securing a high placement holds a lot of value, as it shows who the fittest people on earth are currently.
Colten Mertens was extremely dominant in the men’s division, winning two out of three workouts. Moreover, in the single workout that he didn’t win, Colten still managed to come in second place. His striving toward the clean sweep was stopped by Dallin Pepper, who emerged triumphant in Workout 25.3 by a margin of 16 seconds. Interestingly, Dallin set that time during the announcement of Workout 25.3, as he was one of the athletes participating in the reveal ceremony.
On the other hand, Mirjam von Rohr had a similar experience in the women’s division. She also won the first two workouts, making her the overall leader going into the final week. However, Mirjam finished in 11th place in Workout 25.3, which almost cost her the overall win in the 2025 CrossFit Open. Luckily, it was just enough for her to remain in the top spot, as Feeroozeh Saghafi was just one point behind.
2025 CrossFit Open Overall Results
Note: The scoring system for the CrossFit Open works by assigning points based on an athlete’s placement in each workout. The goal is to accumulate the least amount of points possible across all workouts. For example, finishing 1st in a workout earns 1 point, 2nd earns 2 points, and so on. Those points are then totaled for all workouts to determine the overall standings.

Who Are The Winners?
Colten Mertens is a true powerhouse, making sure to always put in 100% in a performance and never disappointing his fans. Mertens has been competing for a number of years but really started standing out in 2021. Ever since, Colten has made three consecutive CrossFit Games appearances, only missing out on qualifying for the 2024 edition. However, that has clearly fueled Colten’s desire to reach the top, as he now put up perhaps the most dominant display in the history of the CrossFit Open.
Mirjam von Rohr has been participating in the CrossFit Open since 2021, with the exception of 2023. It did not take long for her to find her footing in the sport, as she managed to win the Open in 2024 and now defended her title in 2025 as well. However, she has yet to make it to the CrossFit Games, having never passed the Semifinal stage. This year will hopefully mark the highlight of her career so far, as Mirjam continues pushing toward her debut at the highest stage.
What is Next?
Unlike the prior seasons, the 2025 CrossFit Open will be directly followed up by the Semifinal stage. So, there will be no Quarterfinals this year. Instead, the athletes will look to secure a spot for the CrossFit Games via multiple in-person Semifinal competitions or through the virtual format. The 2025 CrossFit Semifinals are scheduled to start in April and wrap up in June.

The 2025 CrossFit Open featured some intense battles, which will hopefully carry over to the remaining stages of the season as well. Some notable athletes have already withdrawn from the season, including Patrick Vellner, Annie Thorisdottir, and Emma Lawson. On the other hand, that leaves the spots open for upcoming athletes who want to prove themselves.
