Henry Cejudo becomes the 2nd flyweight champion in UFC history
Tonight at the UFC 227 co-main event, Henry Cejudo dethroned Demetrious Johnson to win the UFC flyweight title, and end the Mighty Mouse’s 6-years, 11-fight reign atop the division.
It was one of the greatest flyweight fights in the history of MMA as Cejudo defeated Johnson via split decision. Johnson is the man who most peoples consider the pound-for-pound best fighter in the MMA sports.
Early in the fight Cejudo seemed to have hurt his ankle, but it seemed to get better as the fight went on 25 minutes. Demetrious Johnson, “Mighty Mouse” played the outside, leaping in with strikes and then leaping out. In the second-round, Cejudo landed his first takedown of the fight and noticeably picked up the pace.
Johnson regained his bearings in the third round but Cejudo seemed to have more gas in the tank over the final two rounds. His continues pressure and wrestling were too much of a puzzle for even the cerebral Johnson to solve, as Cejudo sealed his championship victory.
Cejudo ended the second-longest UFC title reign in history and also avenged his first-round loss to Johnson two years ago. After the fight Cejudo said:
“I came in, I was knocked out in the first round two years ago, and this time I came in and defeated the legend and now I’m the champion.”

Johnson (27-3-1) said:
“Nothing he landed rocked me, but he’s the champ now, I knew he was going to be tough knew he was going to bring his A-game.”
