Being a professional bodybuilder is a tough task. You need to give up everything, forget about your favorite food, live like a robot. And when it comes to health issues, you never know when it happens. At one moment, you are at the top of the world. But the next one, you are knocking at the door of hell. Classic Physique’s top bodybuilder Chris Bumstead has felt this when he was hospitalized!
Chirs Bumstead who impressed the crowd and the judges, in his very first Olympia back in 2017, eventually took the second place in the Classic Physique category. The results were similar for Bumstead in 2018 Olympia even though he brought pretty impressive physique on the stage, but not what the fans were expecting, he was a bit off compared to the previous year. His conditioning wasn’t that sharp. Many were wondering why did this happen.
Chris Bumstead has decided to open up his soul. He confessed that he was hospitalized before the show. Here is how Chris described the beginning of his problems:
“This story begins at about seven-eight weeks out this year right after my last guest posting in LA.
I was holding so much water in my ankles I could push on them and it went in like an inch and my shins I was so watery and I didn’t know what was going on.
I taught, maybe my food was a little different. I kind of pushed it away, dealt with it.”

But the situation quickly turned critical.
“I lost the bunch of weight from the diet. All of a sudden, I woke up and I was five pounds heavier. I had a bunch of water in my shins again and I was about to see the doctor.
I went in the water park before that, had the Sun all the day super dehydrated.
I woke up the next day and just put up 15 pounds the next day, my ankles were swollen.”
Chris Bumstead spent three nights in the emergency room waiting for the result. It was very stressful for him. He was given a very strong diuretic to flash out potassium since the doctors realized it was the problem with his kidneys.
Bumstead even confessed he was waking in the middle of the night and his quads were cramping awful when he was sent home.

“If you see something is going on with your body, especially if you are a bodybuilder and you have gone through a lot, get yourself checked out. Get your regular blood work, get your urine test, go and see the doctor regularly.”
