The UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk has finally tasted defeat as a professional mixed martial artist, dropping the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre.
Jedrzejczyk came in looking to extend her five title defenses to six but Namajunas had other plans in mind. Where will Namajunas go from here, and who will be next in line to face the new champion?
Namajunas dropped Jedrzejczyk with a left hook in the first round, then finished the match on the ground, winning by TKO.

Jędrzejczyk was 14-0 as a professional MMA fighter and had defended her title five consecutive times, with eight wins in the UFC. She was dominant to the point of being considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. She still is that, but now she has a loss on her record.
Namajunas is now 7-3 as an MMA professional, with wins in her last two bouts.
UFC 217 will continue with two more title bouts. The first will pit Cody Garbrandt vs. T.J. Dillashaw as the former defends his UFC Bantamweight Championship. In the main event will see Michael Bisping defend his UFC Middleweight Championship against the returning Georges St-Pierre.
