WATCH: Bob Sapp vs A Grizzly Bear

Bob Sapp is 6’4” tall and nearly 400 lbs of pure muscle and terror. He was a former NFL player that turned into a pro wrestler that turned into a kickboxer and an MMA fighter. His sheer size turned him into a sensation in Japan and the world. His fights were short, dominating and very one-sided, quickly earning him the nickname “The Beast”. As his career in MMA and K-1 progressed so did his level of opponents. Soon he began facing experienced and much more skilled fighters which led him to his first loss in kickboxing against the contact sport veteran, Mirko Cro Cop.

Bob “The Beast” Sapp

Despite his career suddenly taking a turn for the worse, he somewhat maintained his superstar status in Japan. He made hilarious tv commercials, had his own tv show, appeared on various other tv shows, made bitchin’ J- funk music videos and did just about anything the Japanese audience was willing to watch him in. He even participated in an Arm-wrestling event which saw him defeat the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem in one night.

At one point he even attended a Korean game show, which saw him, topless as usual, putting two female contestants in giant bags and carrying them around.

If someone somewhere was willing to pay Bob Sapp, he was willing to do whatever was asked of him. All of this brings us to our topic at hand, which is Bob Sapp participating a strang semi-sumo wrestling march against a giant, angry grizzly bear.

Grizzly Bear

Now that we’ve acquainted ourselves with Bob Sapp, let’ spare some words for our furry contestant, the giant grizzly bear.  Since the bear doesn’t look all that bigger than Bob Sapp, it’s safe to say that it hasn’t reached it’s maturity and still has a few years of growth left. Assuming the organizers of this fight tried their best to make it a fair fight, the bear weighs somewhere around Bob Sapp’s weight range of 350 to 400 lbs. The bear enjoys a high protein diet consisting of small and large mammals, fish, birds, and insects such as ants. Since he is a giant bear, it’s safe to say he doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. Thusly, if he is provoked, there is a high chance of him simply eating his opponent. As you can imagine, the bear’s gameplan of simply eating his opponent is far more superior to whatever the giant kickboxer/MMA fighter can come up with. Ever the innovative, the match organizers constructed a special  “one way in, one way out” narrow cage with a movable plexiglass wall between The Beast and The Bear. The winner is the first contestant who moves the plexiglass wall and therefore the opponent over the red line behind him.

Bob Sapp VS Grizzly Bear

As you can see from the video above, to give the bear insensitive to attack the veteran fighter, they tied a piece of meat around Bob Sapp. The Bear immediately goes for the “gong and dash” tactic putting everything he has into outwrestling Bob Sapp. His opponent, on the other hand, starts off timid and never quite gets a good rhythm going. While The Beast gave a few admirable tries, the bear’s size and cardio were far better than that of Bob Sapp’s.

Man vs Beast

This wasn’t the first time a human tried his best athletic ability against an animal.  In April of 2007, Rugby superstar Bryan Habana tested his sprinting skills against the fastest land animal alive, the cheetah. Habana was given a 50-meter head start before the wildcat was released from its cage and lured away from eating Bryan by a tasty piece of meat. The race ended up being a photo finish, razor thin, super close tie.

If by an off chance you think you can outwrestle a bear, don’t do it. Unless your name is Khabib Nurmagomedov and you come from Russia. Those kinds of things are normal there.

Seriously tho, don’t. Screwing with nature’s killing machines will only get you so far. Sooner or later you will piss them off just the right amount for them to snap your sh*t and make delicious stakes out of you. So stick to playfighting with your dog, at least he won’t eat you.
