The fitness community has unfortunately been rocked with another untimely death. According to local news media, 30-year-old fitness coach Débora “Debby” Michels lost her life Friday after a violent argument with her husband, 48-year-old Alexander Gunsch.
“DĂ©bora was a person very loved by everyone here in the community. Friends, family, everyone loved her,” Michels’ brother, Alex Michels, 41, told the local outlet.
Gunsch revealed that he got into a physical altercation with Michels, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her against a wardrobe. She reported feeling ill after the scuffle. In addition, Gunsch told police that he attempted to drive Michels to the nearest hospital but eventually discovered that she had passed away.
Brazilian fitness trainer DĂ©bora “Debby” Michels’ body was found in red cloth, just yards from her parent’s house on the cold cement. Her husband, Alexander Gunsch, who turned himself in, admitted to the local police that he killed Michels and left her body where authorities made the grim discovery.

A spokesperson for the police chimed in after Michels’ body was found outside her parent’s house in Montenegro.
“He simply dumped this victim’s body in front of [her] parents’ residence. Not only did he discard the cellphone, but also the victim’s body,” the spokesperson told GZH.
With Michels’ case ruled a homicide by police, Gunsch was detained immediately and arrested Sunday, two days after the incident.
“It’s important for us to tell women not to remain silent, to seek help,” the spokesperson added. “The only way to stop these male attackers is for the authorities to do something, because they will never stop.”
Michels’ family informed authorities that their daughter had never warned of prior incidences of violence with Gunsch. Sharing a relationship for more than 11 years, the ordeal came as a shock to those around them. The mother of Michels found out about her daughter’s passing after military police investigated her home. Additionally, the local news outlet reported that Michels was supposed to move into her apartment a day after she was killed.
Adored by those around her, including her brother, the loss of Michels’ life comes as a massive hit to the fitness community.
“The people at the gym, who worked with her, loved her smile and her joy in working. She loved what she did. She really liked it, and it really rubbed off on people, us in the family too. She was a captivating person, very special,” he said.
This has been far from the first untimely death to stir up emotions in the fitness and bodybuilding sector. Last year, bodybuilding influencer Jo Lindner tragically lost his life at only 29 years old. Meanwhile, Larissa Borges was also found dead at 33 years old, having spent one week in a coma following a double cardiac arrest event.
Our staff at Fitness Volt extends our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Débora “Debby” Michels while they navigate this challenging time.
