Alan Ritchson Shows Fans How He Keeps His Stunning Build By Sharing A Look Inside His Fridge And Home Gym
To prepare for the role, Alan Ritchson focused on strength training and conditioning to achieve a level of physical prowess demanded by the character. His dedication to the fitness regimen was evident both on and off the screen, as he shared glimpses of his intense training on social media.
Ritchson continues to offer fans an insider’s view of how he maintains his chiseled physique. Recently, he delighted followers by providing a peek not only into the contents of his fridge but also into his home gym setup.
Starting with the fridge, Ritchson goes through the food he eats regularly.
“So we always have eggs, I always have a lot of eggs that is my go-to breakfast. So we got, you know, a couple of dozen here. Cage-free, we are polite to the chickens. Don’t look at the No-Baked cookie dough from a local bakery. I don’t stick spoons in that all day long.”
“We do have a lot of cut fruit. We have three boys in the house. They love to drive into fruit all the time and I’ve got one kid who is like a fruit bat and that’s all he eats.”
“From what I’ve been told, you can’t have too much fruit. I think it’s a safe one.”
Plus, Ritchson eats frequently though most of them aren’t full meals.
“Don’t mind the cheese dogs,” adds Ritchson.
“I do love hot dogs, little mustard and onion, if you can find some chili great.”
“People are going eat like shit after they see this because I eat whatever the hell I want and I’m not kidding.”
“I eat about every hour. I don’t know if they are like full meals, probably like four full meals.”
Getting back on track, he shows the pre-made oatmeal he eats consistently and reveals which flavor is his favorite.
“This is my breakfast. Pre-made packs of oatmeal, I like a little variety in my life. I’ll take the apples and cinnamon or my favorite, I’m almost out of it and it’s a little scary, maple and brown sugar.”
Up next is lunch, Ritchson takes viewers through a step-by-step guide on how to make his turkey and cheese roll-ups, or as he calls them ‘meat and cheese tacos.’
“Here is my lunch, I’m going to show you what I do,” adds Ritchson.
“You take some cheese. I take two pieces of swiss, you don’t want to overdo it”
“Take some turkey, you don’t want to overdo it, one little plop or two [of condiments]. The cheese is the bread, so you got a little flavor in the middle, you got your protein, and you got your meat and cheese taco, I can eat 50 of these.”
Next, he reveals what he has for dinner crediting his wife for her great cooking.
“This is my wife’s lovely homemade turkey meatloaf, very lean, tons of protein, sometimes we will have some mash potatoes in it if I need a little carbs and some greens, salad and green beans.”
Alan Ritchson talks about how it is easier to eat healthy while on set for the “Reacher” especially when someone is making your meals for you.
“When I’m on set it’s super easy to maintain what I eat. In fact, I eat the healthiest when I’m on set because I have someone cooking for me.”
“I play Reacher, Reacher has got to be big so I can bulk. I call it bulking constantly and just eat whatever I want. I do workout five days a week so I think I can get away with a lot of it. If I’m not playing Reacher which is the other half of the year, I can’t be so big usually. I limit the carbs. I try to cut back on the sugar. I eat cookies every day, cookie dough every day our secret.”
As far as a good cheat meal, Ritchson can’t resist cookie dough. Coffee, on the other hand, he substitutes with a good old Five-Hour Energy.
“I was given for my birthday recently eight pounds of raw cookie dough. I ate all of it. I don’t know where it goes.”
“My coffee is a five-hour energy. It’s efficient, it’s delicious”
He also offered the ingredients to his go-to protein shake.
“My go-to protein shake is ice, almond milk, a ton of protein powder, sometimes a banana but I try to go fruitless and I try to limit the sugar, three giant handfuls of spinach, I do peanut butter, cacao for a little depth of flavor, and avocado Sometimes I put oats in there if I want a little extra.”
“These are all-natural minerals and performance electrolytes. I swear to you this saves my life. When I’m working out five days a week and using heavy weights all the time the body never has a chance to recover. You’re never 100%”
While Alan Ritchson may be a Hollywood star, he isn’t immune to a late-night craving. He feels no guilt knowing he is willing to work hard in the gym to balance it out.
“A nice homemade Key Lime Pie,” said Alan.
“When I go into that gym, I’m like I deserve to die for how I’ve eaten so I’m going to try to work myself to death. What I would love to find in my life is a balance where I kind of eat healthy and don’t have to work quite as hard.”
Next, Ritchson opened up on his home gym and mentioned he prefers to use cables for the bulk of his workouts.
“I try to keep it Monday through Friday so I have time to recover,” he said about his training.
“I don’t spend a ton of time in the gym, 20-30 minutes.”
While he used to do bodyweight workouts, Ritchson favors strength training nowadays.
“I just learned to be a bit of a lone wolf in the gym. The other training would probably be fight training for the show that I’m on, Reacher. I’ve got an amazing team of stunt people that are constantly trying to make me look like the real deal.”
Through his hard work and determination, Alan Ritchson effectively transformed himself into the embodiment of Jack Reacher, captivating audiences with his powerful performance and physical presence in the series.
Ritchson’s dedication to his craft and willingness to push himself to new limits underscores his commitment to bringing authenticity to the character, solidifying his reputation as a versatile actor.
