The 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic opened up on March 1st in Columbus, Ohio, and day one has already brought in a bunch of excitement. Lucy Underdown played the biggest role when it came to that, having put in a record-breaking performance at the first event, the Elephant Bar Deadlift. As expected, Lucy crushed the record, having managed to deadlift 666 pounds (302 kilograms).
Lucy Underdown had three attempts to establish a one-rep-max and made it clear on the first one that she was aiming to exceed the old record. Her first lift came out to 621 pounds (281.7 kilograms), which was already heavier than what the majority of her rivals lifted across all three attempts
So, for her second attempt, Lucy Underdown decided to load 666 pounds (302 kilograms) on the barbell. She walked out on the stage with only a pair of lifting straps and a lifting belt, which was ultimately enough for her to lock out the humongous Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record.
Lucy Underdown made the decision not to perform her third attempt, since she had already won the event and wanted to preserve energy for the remainder of the competition.
The previous Strongwoman Elephant Bar World Record belonged to Victoria Long. She set it by pulling 651 pounds (295.3 kilograms) at the 2023 Arnold Strongwoman Classic.

Although she has been competing at the highest level for multiple years now, Lucy Underdown has just now made her debut at the Arnold Strongwoman Classic. It did not take long for her to justify the invitation that she received, as she immediately broke a World Record. So, there is no doubt that she has also secured her spot for next year’s Arnold Strongwoman Classic.
Lucy Underdown has had an incredible 2023, securing multiple achievements throughout the season. One that deserves to be mentioned the most is her mind-blowing standard Deadlift World Record of 320 kilograms (701 pounds). She made that lift at the 2023 World Deadlift Championships, breaking the previous record by 20 kilograms (44.1 pounds).
Another amazing achievement for Lucy Underdown was winning the open weight class of the 2023 OSG European Championships. Her season was also filled with amazing battles against Rebecca Roberts, but she had to settle for three silver medals in competitions such as the UK’s, Britain’s, and World’s Strongest Woman.
However, Lucy Underdown is coming into the 2024 season even more prepared, hoping to get some more competition wins, and perhaps become the World’s Strongest Woman. If her deadlift is of any indication, Lucy should put up some great results in the upcoming months.
