The 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic took place on March 1-2, in Columbus, Ohio, and proved to be one of the sport’s best competitions to date. It gathered 12 fantastic women, who competed across five events overall. The leaderboards remained unpredictable up until the final minutes, but Angelica Jardine ultimately walked away with the title.

Andrea Thompson took the lead on day one of the competition by winning the Timber Carry event, and placing second in the Max Elephant Bar Deadlift. Day two looked promising for her on paper as well, but Andrea lacked a bit of luck and ultimately dropped her lead.

Angelica Jardine was the athlete who capitalized on mistakes made by her rivals on the second day of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic, thus officially becoming the new champion. She came into day two ready to give her all, and opened it up by dominating the Jeck Stone Carry. She then had a solid performance on the Monster Dumbbell, before once again dominating the Stone Medley event.

Angelica Jardine was not viewed as the favorite going into day two of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic, but she believed in herself and secured the overall victory in the final event.

Day Two (March 2nd) Event Recap

Event Three — Jeck Stone Carry

The Jeck Stones are similar to the iconic Dinnie Stones, but are a bit lighter and perfect for the Strongwoman division. One of the stones comes out to 100 kilograms (220.5 pounds), while the other weighs 94 kilograms (207 pounds). The task for the women was to pick up one stone in each hand and carry it for the maximum distance possible. The time cap for the event was 90 seconds.

Angelica Jardine, also known as the Polynesian Powerhouse, displayed incredible pain endurance and grip strength to win the Jeck Stone Carry. Being a brand new event, none of the athletes were familiar with the format, but Angelica adjusted the best to it. She was speedy with the stones in her hands, thus covering 27.9 meters in a short time frame.

Rebecca Roberts finished in second, as she managed to carry the stones for 19.5 meters. Both Rebecca and Angelica Jardine were outside the top five overall after day one, but absolutely dominated everyone else on the first event of day two.

Lucy Underdown got into the top three and utilized the fact that Andrea Thompson placed ninth. So, she managed to take over the lead once again, with two events remaining until the end.

  • Angelica Jardine — 27.9 meters
  • Rebecca Roberts — 19.5 meters
  • Lucy Underdown — 18.3 meters
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 17.8 meters
  • Olga Liashchuk — 13.3 meters
  • Samantha Belliveau — 13 meters
  • Erin Murray — 10.4 meters
  • Hannah Linzay — 10 meters
  • Andrea Thompson — 9.3 meters
  • Melissa Peacock — 8.7 meters
  • Donna Moore — 8 meters

Event Four — Monster Dumbbell

The second-to-last event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic was the Monster Dumbbell. During this event, the women had a choice of facing progressively heavier dumbbells across rounds. However, a successful rep on each dumbbell carried a different number of points. The goal of the event was to rack up as many points as possible, with multiple reps on one dumbbell being allowed. Moreover, the event was performed for four rounds of 30 seconds.

60-kg (132-lb) Dumbbell: 1 point
70-kg (154-lb) Dumbbell: 10 points
80-kg (176-lb) Dumbbell: 100 points
84-kg (185-lb) Dumbbell: 1,000 points

Samantha Belliveau displayed incredible pressing power, being the only woman to overhead press the heaviest dumbbell. Moreover, she managed to perform two consecutive repetitions with it, securing a total of 2,000 points, ten times more than any other woman.

Olga Liashchuk made a smart decision in the fourth round after seeing the results that other women made. She realized that she did not need to lift the heaviest dumbbell, but could instead lift the second-to-last one for two reps. That secured her 200 points and a second place finish.

Melissa Peacock and Hannah Linzay made some close attempts, which could have secured them a higher placing. However, they both ended up with one rep on the 80-kg (176-lb) dumbbell. So, they shared the third place spot.

  • Samantha Belliveau — 2,000 points
  • Olga Liashchuk — 200 points
  • Melissa Peacock — 100 points
  • Hannah Linzay — 100 points
  • Angelica Jardine — 30 points
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 30 points
  • Erin Murray — 4 points
  • Rebecca Roberts — 1 point
  • Lucy Underdown — 1 point
  • Andrea Thompson — No lift
  • Donna Moore — Did Not Perform

Event Five — Stone Medley

The last event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classis was arguably the most brutal one out of all. At this point of the competition, the women were all extremely tired, but had a complex task ahead of them. They first needed to overhead press a 72-kilogram (158.5-pound) stone, then lift a 100-kilogram (220.5-pound) stone over the bar. That is not all, as the women then had to pick up a 113-kilogram (249-pound) stone from the floor to one of their shoulders for as many reps as possible.

Angelica Jardine continued her mind-blowing day two of the competition, winning yet another event in an even more dominant fashion. While many athletes, including some that were ahead of her on the overall rankings, did not even manage to get three reps, Angelica walked away with six. In turn, she also won the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic.

Olga Liashchuk finished in second place of the event, as she managed to lock out four repetitions in total. This helped her move up to second place overall, ahead of Lucy Underdown.

Samantha Belliveau won the penultimate event and carried the momentum to the Stone Medley as well. She managed to get three reps in, separating herself from seven other athletes who tied with two reps.

  • Olga Liashchuk — 4 reps
  • Angelica Jardine — 6 reps
  • Samantha Belliveau — 3 reps
  • Erin Murray — 2 reps
  • Melissa Peacock — 2 reps
  • Andrea Thompson — 2 reps
  • Rebecca Roberts — 2 reps
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 2 reps
  • Hannah Linzay — 2 reps
  • Lucy Underdown — 2 reps

Day One (March 1st) Event Recap

Event One — Max Elephant Bar Deadlift

The opening event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic was the Max Elephant Bar Deadlift. It has been an event that was featured in multiple editions of the competition, and often resulted in some great lifts. So, the women once again had just one goal, which was to pull and lock out as much weight as possible.

Lucy Underdown made her debut at the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic quite a special one, having won the first event of the competition. However, she also managed to set a new World Record of 302 kilograms (666 pounds). Moreover, Lucy had another attempt available, but opted not to take it in order to preserve energy.

Andrea Thompson put up an incredible performance as well, finishing in second place with a 291-kilogram (642-pound) deadlift. This already proved that she came into the competition aiming for nothing but a victory.

Third place went to Victoria Long, who unfortunately injured her hamstring during her third attempt. That ended up being the reason for her withdrawal from the competition. So, the defending 2x champion was out from the show at the very start.

  • Lucy Underdown — 302-kg
  • Andrea Thompson — 291-kg
  • Victoria Long — 288-kg
  • Olga Liashchuk — 275-kg
  • Melissa Peacock — 275-kg
  • Hannah Linzay — 273-kg
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 259-kg
  • Angelica Jardine — 254-kg
  • Erin Murray — 252-kg
  • Donna Moore — 250-kg
  • Rebecca Roberts — 243-kg
  • Samantha Belliveau — 234-kg

Event Two — Timber Carry

The second event of the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic was the Timber Carry, which was heavier than in previous editions. Last year, many women finished the event, so this year’s frame weighed 268 kilograms (590 pounds), which proved to be much more challenging. The total distance that the athletes had to cover with the frame in their hands was 11 meters.

Although it seemed that the winners were decided during the earlier attempts, Andrea Thompson surprised everyone with her 8.43-second time. She managed to keep her grip on the handles throughout the entire carry, thus not wasting any time.

Two women ended up in second place, in what turned out to be a very unusual scenario. The time was measured down to one-hundredth of a second in order to avoid ties, but Rebbecca Roberts and Hannah Linzay still managed to put in an identical result. So, they had to share the points.

  • Andrea Thompson — 8.43 seconds
  • Hannah Linzay — 9.53 seconds
  • Rebecca Roberts — 9.53 seconds
  • Lucy Underdown — 11.64 seconds
  • Angelica Jardine — 27.42 seconds
  • Inez Carrasquillo — 9.8 meters
  • Olga Liashchuk — 4.9 meters
  • Erin Murray — 4.5 meters
  • Samantha Belliveau — 4.09 meters
  • Melissa Peacock — 4.01 meters
  • Donna Moore — 3.2 meters
  • Victoria Long — Withdrew
