Temur Samkharadze continued to display his improvements at the 2024 EPF European Classic Open Powerlifting Championships, which took place on March 12-17, in Velika Gorica, Croatia. He absolutely dominated every single one of his rivals in the +120-kilogram weight class and became the European Champion. Moreover, Temur broke a mind-blowing amount of records, practically setting new IPF Junior World Records and EPF European Records with each lift that he performed.
Temur Samkharadze’s 2024 EPF European Championships Performance Overview
Squat
The Squat is one of Temur Samkharadze’s best lifts, which is evident by the humongous weights that he often moves. So, at the European Championships, Temur decided to open up with a huge 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) squat. Obviously, it moved smooth like butter, so Temur turned to his second attempt.
His second squat attempt came out to 415 kilograms (914.9 pounds) which already marked a new +120KG EPF European Open & Junior Record. He completed it quite easily, not stuttering during any portion of the massive lift despite wearing just a lifting belt and knee sleeves.
With more in the tank, Temur Samkharadze attempted to squat 430 kilograms (948 pounds) on his final attempt, but it turned out to be too big of a jump.

Bench Press
Having already set some records, Temur Samkharadze utilized the momentum to perform great on the bench press as well. So, after successfully completing all three of his attempts, Temur’s heaviest press came out to 247.5 kilograms (545.6 pounds), which marked a new EPF European Junior Record. In addition, it was 10 kilograms (22 pounds) heavier than his previous Competition PR.

Deadlift
Despite moving so much weight on the first two events, Temur Samkharadze came into the deadlift ready to break some more records. He once again performed all three attempts successfully, with his third and heaviest deadlift coming out to 401 kilograms (884 pounds).
With this pull, Temur Samkharadze secured a plethora of records. Firstly, he set a new IPF Junior World Record, but also set new EPF European Open & Junior Records.
As if that wasn’t enough, Temur Samkharadze’s 401-kilogram (884.6-pound) secured him a 1,063.5-kilogram (2,344.6-pound) Total, which broke some more records.
*Cenk Kocak of Turkey held the previous *120 EPF European Open Record of 400.5-kg (883-lb), which he set at the 2023 EPF European Open Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Temur Samkharadze has now taken part in a total of 10 sanctioned powerlifting competitions and managed to win eight of them. One of the competitions that he failed to win was a bench-only meet, while the other occasion saw him place second behind the incredible Jesus Olivares. So, it is clear that Temur is one of the greatest powerlifters in the world and perhaps the only one that could rival Jesus Olivares in the near future.
