The 2024 CrossFit Open Winners were announced on March 26th, officially wrapping up the first stage of the season which took place from February 29th – March 18th. It featured three workouts, each designed to test all aspects of fitness displayed by the participants. In the end, Jonne Koski and Mirjam von Rohr came out victorious in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively.
The 2024 CrossFit Open was record-breaking in multiple ways. Most notably, it was one of the biggest competitions in the world, as more than 340,000 athletes registered for the first stage of the CrossFit season. Moreover, each workout announcement was followed by nearly 200,000 people live, while millions watched it after the live broadcast was finished as well.
So, Jonne Koski and Mirjam von Rohr had an incredibly difficult task, having to beat countless thousands of rivals. However, both of them had remarkable results across all three workouts, in turn winning the 2024 CrossFit Open and marking a great start to the season.
Note: The points were calculated by adding up an athlete’s placements from all three workouts. For example, Jonne Koski placed 27th, 2nd, and 1st, across three workouts, which added up to 30 points. In turn, the goal was to have the fewest points possible.

Who Are The Winners?
Jonne Koski is a veteran of the sport, having taken part in nine editions of the CrossFit Games. He is representing Finland, and is clearly doing an impressive job, considering that he won his first CrossFit Open this year. Impressively, Koski placed in the top 10 at five editions of the CrossFit Games, with his best finish being 6th place in 2023 and 2021.
Mirjam von Rohr is coming from Switzerland and is fairly new to the top level of CrossFit. She entered her first Open back in 2021, but has now managed to win it just three years later. So, she is clearly displaying massive improvements. She has never made it past the Quarterfinals, but this year looks extremely promising.

Looking Ahead
With the 2024 CrossFit Open wrapped up, a portion of the athletes who placed the highest will go through to the 2024 CrossFit Quarterfinals. Specifically, those who placed in the top 25% of the Individual, Age Group, and Teams divisions from the Open.
The 2024 CrossFit Quarterfinals are the second stage of the season, and, similar to the 2024 CrossFit Open, they will also be held in an online format. The Quarterfinals will serve as a way to narrow the field down to even fewer athletes, meaning only the best of the best will go through to the Semifinals.
For those who are excited to see the remainder of the CrossFit Season unwind, the 2024 CrossFit Quarterfinals will take place fairly soon, as they are scheduled for April 3-22.

The 2024 CrossFit Open was nothing short of spectacular, and we can only hope that the remainder of the season is as exciting as this first qualifying stage was. The athletes don’t have much time to reflect on the Open though, as they already have to start preparing for the challenges that the Quarterfinals will present.
