The 2024 CrossFit Oceania Semifinal took place on May 23-26 at the Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane, Australia. It gathered dozens of competitors, all vying to claim the few available qualifying spots for this year’s CrossFit Games. So, after three days of competition, the winners of the Oceania Semifinal turned out to be Ricky Garard and Grace Walton.
The 2024 CrossFit Oceania Semifinal actually got an increased number of qualifying spots for the CrossFit Games compared to last year. So, this time, the top four men and women, as well as the top three teams, have managed to secure their spot at the most prestigious competition of the season.

Men
Ricky Garard is one of the most prominent CrossFit figures from the Oceania region, as he has been one of the top performers in the past years, but also went through a doping scandal. However, after serving his suspension, Ricky has climbed back to the top once again and is one of the favorites for the CrossFit Games.
Garard displayed his incredible fitness level at the 2024 CrossFit Oceania Semifinal, as he managed to claim the gold medal. However, he faced tremendous pressure from the likes of Bayley Martin and Jay Crouch, who are also well known on the International scene.

Women
Grace Walton won the women’s division after an incredibly tight battle against Madeline Sturt. Walton has been putting up great results in the past few years, but this is definitely her breakout to the main scene, as she has qualified for the CrossFit Games for the first time in her career.
Grace Walton won only one event at the 2024 CrossFit Oceania Semifinal, but her consistency throughout all other events ensured that she did not drop any valuable points. So, her lowest placing throughout the entire Semifinal was sixth in the final workout.

Although both the men’s and women’s divisions were highly competitive, the Teams division had the most nerve-wracking finish, as first place was decided by a margin of just four points. This worked in favor of ‘Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem Thunder’, who were on the winning side of the duel. On the other hand, ‘CrossFit Torian Mayhem’ had to settle for second place.
