Farhanna Farid (52KG) Secures 209-kg (460.8-lb) Raw Deadlift World Record at 2024 IPF World Powerlifting Championships

Farhanna Farid is a staple in the 52-kilogram weight class, but is mostly recognized for her amazing deadlift abilities. Speaking of which, her prowess in this event was expressed at the 2024 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships, which are taking place on June 15-23, in Druskininkai, Lithuania. Namely, Farhanna managed to lock out a 209-kilogram (406.8-pound) Raw Deadlift IPF World Record.

Farhanna Farid’s deadlift session started off with a surprise, as she missed her first attempt of 200 kilograms (440.9 pounds). So, her plans changed a bit, since she decided to try to lift the same weight on her second attempt as well. Luckily, the second attempt was more successful, allowing Farhanna to focus on her main goal.

Ultimately, Farhanna Farid decided to take the risk on her final attempt, hoping to take the U52KG World Record. In turn, she loaded 209 kilograms (406.8 pounds) on the bar, exactly 0.5-kilogram (1.1-pound) over the record. As a means of completing the task, Farhanna combined a sumo stance and a mixed grip. With this, she was able to absolutely crush the lift and set a new record.

*Evie Corrigan held the previous U52KG Raw Deadlift World Record of 208.5-kg (459.7-lb), which she set at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. Interestingly, at the time, Evie broke Farhanna Farid’s record.

Farhanna Farid has taken part in 11 sanctioned powerlifting competitions over the course of her career, during which she also won nine gold medals. Most impressively, she is a 4x Asian champion, as well as a World Record holder.

Farhanna Farid is now performing deadlifts that are over 4x her bodyweight, which is an immensely impressive ratio. However, it seemed like she was capable of deadlifting even more weight during the 2024 IPF Worlds. So, the chances are that Farhanna will further improve on the record in the future.
