Karlos Nasar is still just 20-years-old, but he is already one of the greatest weightlifters ever seen. He has been dominating the sport for years and continued to do so at the recent 2025 European Weightlifting Championships as well. The competition took place on April 13-21 in Chisinau, Moldova, with Nasar competing in the 96-kilogram weight class. As expected, he ended up securing new Snatch and Total World Records.

Karlos Nasar’s Full Performance at 2025 European Weightlifting Championships

Karlos Nasar made his first appearance of the season at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships, and he surprised many by taking part in the 96-kilogram weight class. However, the added weight worked wonders for him, as he ended up successfully completing all six of his attempts and locking out some new records.

Snatch

Karlos Nasar made easy work of his first two attempts, locking out 174 kilograms (383.6 pounds) and 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds) without too much struggle. So, for his final attempt, he decided to make a massive jump up to 188 kilograms (414.5 pounds). This was just enough to chip the former World Record.

Karlos Nasar excelled under pressure, walking out full of confidence in setting a new record. He got the bar above his head with perfect technique, managing to remain stable and transition to the squat portion of the lift. He proceeded to stand up straight without a single stutter in his movement, showing just how powerful he is.

  • 174 kilograms (383.6 pounds)
  • 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds)
  • 188 kilograms (414.5 pounds) — U96KG World Record & European Record

*Lesman Paredes Montano held the previous U96KG Snatch World Record of 187 kilograms (412.3 pounds). He set the record at the 2021 IWF World Championships.

Clean & Jerk

Karlos Nasar’s story on the Clean & Jerk was not much different from the one on the snatch. His first attempt was with 210 kilograms (463 pounds), a weight that is fairly easy for him. He then added another 10 kilograms (22 pounds) for his second attempt, making it look like a warmup once again.

With one attempt left, Karlos Nasar decided to push his limits, loading 229 kilograms (504.9 pounds) onto the barbell. The clean portion of the lift passed smoothly, but Nasar had to take a few seconds to gather himself before moving on to the jerk. He then displayed mind-blowing explosive power, pressing the bar above his head and completing the attempt.

  • 210 kilograms (463 pounds)
  • 220 kilograms (485 pounds)
  • 229 kilograms (504.9 pounds) — U96KG European Record

Total — 417 kilograms (919.3 pounds) — U96KG World Record & European Record

*Sohrab Moradi held the previous U96KG Total World Record of 416 kilograms (917.1 pounds). He set the record at the 2018 IWF World Championships.
