Event One — Log Lift

To kick off the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man competition, the athletes performed the Log Lift. They got to choose between a 140-kilogram (308.6-pound) and 160-kilogram (352.7-pound) implement, after which they had to perform as many repetitions as possible. It is important to note that even just one rep with the heavier Log was worth more than any number of reps with the lighter one.

Half of the roster picked the 160-kilogram (352.7-pound) log. So, it came down to who was able to lock out the highest number of reps. Matthias Winnerly proved to be the best when it came to overhead pressing, lifting the implement six times to take the event win. Dennis Kohlruss and Julian Marresteig tied for second place with four reps each.

  • Matthias Winnerl — 6 with 160-kg
  • Dennis Kohlruss — 4 with 160-kg
  • Julian Mattersteig — 4 with 160-kg
  • Albin Hasanovic — 3 with 160-kg
  • Amon Grunert — 1 with 160-kg
  • Constantin Hochfeld — 1 with 160-kg
  • Dennis Schafer — 5 with 140-kg
  • Benjamin Blass — 5 with 140-kg
  • Johannes Eichinger — 5 with 140-kg
  • Peter Olbrich — 3 with 140-kg
  • Marvin Metz — 1 with 140-kg
  • Michael Reichelt — No Lift

Event Two — Car Deadlift

The second event featured another test of static strength, but this time the athletes had to Deadlift as much weight as possible. They performed the event on a special machine that allowed them to deadlift a car. The weight of the deadlift was increased throughout the rounds until each athlete reached their one-rep max.

Albin Hasanovic dominated the event and took a very comfortable win. He managed to lock out 480 kilograms (1,058.2 pounds), which was significantly more than anyone else achieved. So, Dennis Kohlruss and Peter Olbrich ended up in a tie for second place with a lift of 420 kilograms (925.9 pounds).

  • Albin Hasanovic — 480-kg
  • Dennis Kohlruss — 420-kg
  • Peter Olbrich — 420-kg
  • Julian Mattersteig — 400-kg
  • Benjamin Blass — 400-kg
  • Michael Reichelt — 400-kg
  • Matthias Winnerl — 400-kg
  • Amon Grunert — 380-kg
  • Johannes Eichinger — 360-kg
  • Marvin Metz — 360-kg
  • Constantin Hochfeld — 360-kg
  • Dennis Schafer — 340-kg

Event Three — Medley

The third task of the day was a medley, meaning that it consisted of multiple parts. It started off with a 310-kilogram (683.4-pound) frame carry for 15 meters. Then, the athletes had to lift a 75-kilogram (165.3-pound) dumbbell over their head. Lastly, they had to perform as many reps as possible of a 90-kilogram (198.4-pound) dumbbell overhead press.

Albin Hasanovic won the second event in a row, showcasing incredible pressing strength after his spectacular performance on the deadlift. Albin completed the first two parts of the event with ease and proceeded to lock out three reps with a 90-kilogram (198.4-pound) dumbbell. So, he ended up with five reps in total, which was enough for him to beat everyone.

  • Dennis Kohlruss — 4 in 69.27 s
  • Benjamin Blass — 3 in 37.58 s
  • Dennis Schafer — 3 in 51.90 s
  • Amon Grunert — 3 in 61.89 s
  • Peter Olbrich — 2 in 18.32 s
  • Michael Reichelt — 2 in 22.82 s
  • Johannes Eichinger — 2 in 22.92 s
  • Julian Mattersteig — 2 in 23.17 s
  • Constantin Hochfeld — 2 in 28.31 s
  • Marvin Metz — 2 in 40.47 s
  • Matthias Winnerl — No Lift

Event Four — Sandbag Toss

The fourth event of the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man was very dynamic, as athletes rushed to toss five sandbags over a beam that was set to a height of 4 meters. The weight of the sandbags ranged from 20-kg (44.1-lb) to 28-kg (61.7-lb). The goal was to finish or toss as many sandbags as possible quicker than anyone else.

Only a handful of athletes were able to complete the entire event, but Dennis Kohlurs was the fastest among them. He needed just 15.22 seconds to toss all five sandbags, shocking the audience with his speed and making a huge step toward the title. Amon Grunert finished in second with a time of 18.37, beating the third-place finisher, Dennis Schafer, by six seconds.

  • Dennis Kohlruss — 15.22 seconds
  • Amon Grunert — 18.37 seconds
  • Dennis Schafer — 24.23 seconds
  • Marvin Metz — 4 in 11.31 seconds
  • Matthias Winnerl — 4 in 13.76 seconds
  • Albin Hasanovic — 4 in 14.20 seconds
  • Johannes Eichinger — 4 in 21.43 seconds
  • Julian Mattersteig — 4 in 22.28 seconds
  • Peter Olbrich — 4 in 22.63 seconds
  • Benjamin Blass — 4 in 23.29 seconds
  • Michael Reichelt — 4 in 29.07 seconds
  • Constantin Hochfeld — 3 in 11.99 seconds

Event Five — Carry & Drag

Carry and drag was the fifth event of the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man. As the name suggests, the athletes had to carry a 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) Yoke for 17 meters and then drag a 270-kilogram (595.2-pound) anchor for an additional 15 meters. The goal was simple: finish the event in the shortest time possible.

Dennis Schafer and Dennis Kohlruss found themselves in a battle for first place. Only fractions of a second separated the two, with Schafer walking away slightly happier. He finished the event in a time of 38.19 seconds and was 0.27 seconds faster than Kohlruss. So, Schafer won the Carry & Drag event.

Event Six — Hercules Hold

As the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man competition was slowly coming to an end, the athletes had to perform the Hercules Hold for the penultimate event. The event focused mainly on grip, since athletes had to hold two 130-kilogram (286.6-pound) pillars for as long as possible.

Marvin Metz put up a spectacular performance, managing to hold the pillars for a staggering time of 44.41 seconds. He was the only man to exceed 40 seconds, which gave him the event win. On the other hand, Dennis Schafer narrowly missed the milestone, achieving a time of 39.07, which was enough for second place. With two seconds less than Schafer, Benjamin Blass rounded out the top three.

  • Marvin Metz — 44.41 seconds
  • Dennis Schafer — 39.07 seconds
  • Benjamin Blass — 37.26 seconds
  • Amon Grunert — 36.63 seconds
  • Johannes Eichinger — 34.51 seconds
  • Julian Mattersteig — 33.37 seconds
  • Michael Reichelt — 31.36 seconds

  • Albin Hasanovic — 30.22 seconds
  • Dennis Kohlruss — 28.66 seconds

Featuring a series of five stones ranging in weight from 110-kg (242.5-lb) to 190-kg (418.9-lb), it tasked the athletes with picking up and loading the implements. It was a timed event, prompting the athletes to finish the event as quickly as they could.

Dennis Kohlurs had a significant lead going into the final event but made sure to claim the title of 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man with another event win.
