The 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man took place on September 20th in Steinmauern, Germany, and featured a total of seven grueling events. It brought together 12 of the nation’s greatest Strongman athletes in order to discover who the strongest of all is. So, following a day of intense competition, Dennis Kohlruss came out victorious.
Dennis Kohlruss finished the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man with two event wins, four second-place finishes, and one 10th-place finish. So, apart from his showing on the Hercules Hold, Dennis had a near-perfect performance. He ended up taking the win with an 11-point margin, showing that he is by far the best Strongman that

Event One — Log Lift
To kick off the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man competition, the athletes performed the Log Lift. They got to choose between a 140-kilogram (308.6-pound) and 160-kilogram (352.7-pound) implement, after which they had to perform as many repetitions as possible. It is important to note that even just one rep with the heavier Log was worth more than any number of reps with the lighter one.
Half of the roster picked the 160-kilogram (352.7-pound) log. So, it came down to who was able to lock out the highest number of reps. Matthias Winnerly proved to be the best when it came to overhead pressing, lifting the implement six times to take the event win. Dennis Kohlruss and Julian Marresteig tied for second place with four reps each.

Event Two — Car Deadlift
The second event featured another test of static strength, but this time the athletes had to Deadlift as much weight as possible. They performed the event on a special machine that allowed them to deadlift a car. The weight of the deadlift was increased throughout the rounds until each athlete reached their one-rep max.
Albin Hasanovic dominated the event and took a very comfortable win. He managed to lock out 480 kilograms (1,058.2 pounds), which was significantly more than anyone else achieved. So, Dennis Kohlruss and Peter Olbrich ended up in a tie for second place with a lift of 420 kilograms (925.9 pounds).

Event Three — Medley
The third task of the day was a medley, meaning that it consisted of multiple parts. It started off with a 310-kilogram (683.4-pound) frame carry for 15 meters. Then, the athletes had to lift a 75-kilogram (165.3-pound) dumbbell over their head. Lastly, they had to perform as many reps as possible of a 90-kilogram (198.4-pound) dumbbell overhead press.
Albin Hasanovic won the second event in a row, showcasing incredible pressing strength after his spectacular performance on the deadlift. Albin completed the first two parts of the event with ease and proceeded to lock out three reps with a 90-kilogram (198.4-pound) dumbbell. So, he ended up with five reps in total, which was enough for him to beat everyone.

Event Four — Sandbag Toss
The fourth event of the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man was very dynamic, as athletes rushed to toss five sandbags over a beam that was set to a height of 4 meters. The weight of the sandbags ranged from 20-kg (44.1-lb) to 28-kg (61.7-lb). The goal was to finish or toss as many sandbags as possible quicker than anyone else.
Only a handful of athletes were able to complete the entire event, but Dennis Kohlurs was the fastest among them. He needed just 15.22 seconds to toss all five sandbags, shocking the audience with his speed and making a huge step toward the title. Amon Grunert finished in second with a time of 18.37, beating the third-place finisher, Dennis Schafer, by six seconds.

Event Five — Carry & Drag
Carry and drag was the fifth event of the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man. As the name suggests, the athletes had to carry a 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) Yoke for 17 meters and then drag a 270-kilogram (595.2-pound) anchor for an additional 15 meters. The goal was simple: finish the event in the shortest time possible.
Dennis Schafer and Dennis Kohlruss found themselves in a battle for first place. Only fractions of a second separated the two, with Schafer walking away slightly happier. He finished the event in a time of 38.19 seconds and was 0.27 seconds faster than Kohlruss. So, Schafer won the Carry & Drag event.

Event Six — Hercules Hold
As the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man competition was slowly coming to an end, the athletes had to perform the Hercules Hold for the penultimate event. The event focused mainly on grip, since athletes had to hold two 130-kilogram (286.6-pound) pillars for as long as possible.
Marvin Metz put up a spectacular performance, managing to hold the pillars for a staggering time of 44.41 seconds. He was the only man to exceed 40 seconds, which gave him the event win. On the other hand, Dennis Schafer narrowly missed the milestone, achieving a time of 39.07, which was enough for second place. With two seconds less than Schafer, Benjamin Blass rounded out the top three.

Event Seven — Atlas Stones
The last event that the athletes had to conquer at the 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man was the Atlas Stones. Featuring a series of five stones ranging in weight from 110-kg (242.5-lb) to 190-kg (418.9-lb), it tasked the athletes with picking up and loading the implements. It was a timed event, prompting the athletes to finish the event as quickly as they could.
Dennis Kohlurs had a significant lead going into the final event but made sure to claim the title of 2025 Germany’s Strongest Man with another event win. He was the only man to finish the heavy Atlas Stone run, which officially secured him the top spot overall and served as a testament to his incredible strength.

Dennis Kohlruss is a very experienced Strongman athlete, as can be seen from his achievements so far. He has been competing since 2014 and has made a total of 45 international and national appearances. He has won seven competitions overall, with five of those coming at Germany’s Strongest Man, where Kohlruss secured consecutive titles from 2021 to 2025.
