Now, lets discuss a little about test boosters…

What is a Testosterone Booster?

A testosterone booster is supposed to… well, boost your testosterone levels.

Now, testosterone is a sex hormone produced in the testes but women also have smaller amounts of testosterone.  And it’s responsible for facial hair, bone growth, deepening of the voice, sexual functions and more.

But according to the American Urology Association (AUA), Low blood testosterone is less than 300 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL). (2)

But even the best testosterone booster on the market won’t bring you to normal levels. However, if you do suffer from low testosterone levels, then you might see some benefit.

Now, a good testosterone booster has quality ingredients, and proven ingredients. But, a lot of products are filled with stuff that doesn’t work! And so, these test boosters get a bad rap. But there are good products out there which will make a small difference.

Common Test Booster Ingredients…

D-Aspartic Acid – This amino acid is a very popular ingredient in test boosting products. But, results have been mixed for its testosterone-enhancing properties.

Studies show D-Aspartic Acid to play a role in the release, regulation, and synthesis of LH and testosterone in humans and rats. (3)

However, it’s hard to give a definite answer on its efficacy for increasing testosterone levels. But, it may play a small role in stimulating testosterone-producing hormones.

Tribulus Terrestris (TT) – Tribulus Terrestris contains many steroidal saponins but studies are not conclusive enough to prove it increases testosterone. However, a study did show TT to have therapeutic effects for men with low sperm counts. (4)

Vitamin D – This essential vitamin is important for human growth and development. But, studies show it might increase testosterone levels. (5)

One study showed a correlation between low Vitamin D levels and low testosterone. (6)

Zinc – An important mineral, zinc was shown in a study to have significant effects on testosterone levels after 20 weeks of intentional deficiency. Zinc deficiency is also associated with hypogonadism in men. So, when brought up to normal levels, testosterone is increased. (7)

Magnesium – This mineral is crucial for nerve, muscle, and heart function but it can also increase testosterone levels. A study showed it to increase free and total testosterone in sedentary and active individuals. (8)

Tongkat Ali – This potent herb has been used in Southeast Asia for centuries and shows promising results as an effective remedy for stress, low libido, depression, and fatigue. While it shows benefits for restoring hormone balance. (9)

So, it’s an important herb in test booster products.

Ashwagandha – A study of 57 subjects divided into two groups showed that individuals given the herb showed a significant increase in testosterone levels, muscle mass, and strength when compared to a placebo group. (10)

The effects of Ashwagandha are well known and this herb is also an effective option for mental health and stress-reduction (Adaptogen). (11)

Reasons for Low Testosterone

Testosterone levels decrease due to many reasons and almost 40% of men over age 45 are affected by low testosterone levels. From age 30, test levels drop off by about 1% every year thereafter. (12)

Reasons for low T:

  • Aging
  • Lack of sleep
  • Low Vitamin D
  • Stress
  • Chronic illness
  • Low Magnesium
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Low Zinc
  • Lack of activity
  • Being overweight
  • Chemotherapy
  • Mild Anemia

Testosterone boosters are not able to address these problems and may potentially only slightly improve symptoms.

Symptoms of Low Testosterone

If you do experience any of these symptoms, please consult with your Doctor to find a solution. Testosterone boosters are not at all a substitute for proper treatment.

Symptoms include:

  • Low sex drive
  • Infertility
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Fatigue
  • Mood changes
  • Increased body fat
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hair thinning

What is The Best Testosterone Booster on The Market?

Here’s the thing… there isn’t one best testosterone booster on the market. There are no magical ingredients that make one product stand above the rest… And the ingredients which show some potential for increasing testosterone are pretty much the same.

But, quality is important and not all companies deliver where this is concerned. So, we have picked test boosters which have a good rating, and which are overall a great value…

Final Words

Testosterone boosters come in different forms but the base ingredients are often similar. And all contain herbs, minerals, and natural ingredients which are generally safe.

But quality isn’t so common and that’s why it’s worth weighing the benefits of each product. Good testosterone boosters will contain scientifically proven compounds which show promise for delivering results.

However, with all testosterone products, it’s important to remember that the results will be subtle and whether or not they’re worth taking depends on the individual.

People with low test levels may see an increase. But, don’t expect to get “big” or make significant gains. Supplements are used to give you a slight boost and enhance your training/nutrition. Results naturally take time and so we just want to set the expectations straight.
