Brian Shaw is giving 100% of himself in order to succeed in the sport of arm wrestling. He has completely changed the way he trains, lost a bunch of weight, and surrounded himself by a group of experienced arm wrestlers. However, Brian recently decided to make another step toward improvement and acquired an arm wrestling tool which could help him reach another level.
With the goal of revolutionizing his arm wrestling training, Brian Shaw ordered a custom one of one “Beast Caged” apparatus. As stated in the title of his YouTube video, Brian hopes that the contraption will help him “build the strongest arm on earth”.

“This is a one-on-one. It is called a ‘Beast Caged’ and it is the very first one that has ever been done. Basically, what this thing does is it overloads the eccentric. So, you are basically doing an isometric and forced eccentric. The crank is how you control it.
My plan is to set up different arm wrestling table positions and use this rope to overload.”
So, how exactly does the ‘Beast Caged’ work? Firstly, it is important to note that it requires two people to work. One person is using the machine to exercise, while the other is spinning the crank to pull the rope and load the eccentric. The machine also features a force meter, which can numerically display how powerfully Brian is pulling.
This kind of eccentric loading can help with an array of factors, such as muscle, strength, and power building. However, it also stimulates the athletes to pull at a 100% capacity across a variety of positions that can occur during an actual arm wrestling match.
Brian Shaw’s new machine will be yet another source for improvement, which he has seen a lot of in recent months. Judging from his training footage, it is clear that Brian’s technique is looking very solid right now. He, however, does point out that he needs to work on his side pressure now, as he has mainly focused on the top roll recently.
“I am making discoveries every single week.”
