The CrossFit Games are now one of the most notable competitions in the world of fitness, but they were founded in 2007, which is not that long ago. However, since then, the games have been held exclusively in the USA. Well, that might not be the case for much longer, as Dave Castro has revealed that he wants the 2027 CrossFit Games to take place in Europe.
The sport of CrossFit grows with each year that passes. So, what started off as a popular activity in America quickly became the sport of choice for athletes from other continents as well. One that has a particularly strong field of athletes is Europe.
So, one of CrossFit’s main figures, Dave Castro, recently conducted an interview with the reigning Fittest Woman On Earth, Laura Horvath. During their talk, Laura (representing Hungary) asked Dave if the CrossFit Games would ever take place in Europe, and the response was very interesting.
“Yes, for sure. That is the plan, and I hope everything can fall in place for that to happen. I would like the 21st year of the Games to be in Europe,” said Dave Castro.
“So I’ll probably still be competing by then. That would be awesome,” replied Laura Horvath.

Interestingly, the second biggest CrossFit competition of the season, the 2024 Rogue Invitational, also decided to make a historic switch and take place in Europe. Namely, it will take place in Scotland later this year.
This year will be the 18th edition of the CrossFit Games and it is set to take place on August 8-11 in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a brand new location for the games since Madison featured the 2017-2023 editions. As per Castro, he hopes to have the 2025 and 2026 Games take place in Texas as well.
The 2024 CrossFit Games are special for multiple reasons, most notably because of the long-awaited return of Tia-Clair Toomey, who missed out on the 2023 Games because of pregnancy. Well, she will be looking to win her eighth title this year.
On the other hand, the lineups for the 2024 CrossFit Games are absolutely stacked in all three divisions, which means that some very interesting battles will take place.

Moving the CrossFit Games to Europe would definitely mark the start of a new era for the sport, mostly because of the expansion overseas. It would not only affect the competitive side of the sport, but most likely inspire other people to casually start working out and improving their fitness.
