The 2023 WRPF American Pro 2 was dubbed the “Superbowl of Powerlifting”, and the results that it has displayed prove that it actually is. Over the course of three days, October 27-29, dozens of athletes took the stage in Manassas, VA, with a few of them putting up record-breaking performances. One of those athletes was Dorrell Petties, who took part in the 140-kilogram drug tested raw division. Dorrell had a very decent performance, but it quickly became outstanding after he deadlifted 401 kilograms (884.1 pounds), since that marked a new All-Time Drug Tested World Record.
Dorrell Petties’ first deadlift attempt was nowhere near the World Record range since it weighed 362.5 kilograms (799.2 pounds). Due to this, no one could have expected that Dorrell would jump up to 401 kilograms (884.1 pounds) for his second attempt already. Dorrell went out for his second attempt with nothing but a lifting belt and sheer determination. He grabbed the barbell with a mixed grip while also standing in a conventional stance. Once he began pulling, the weight moved as smooth as butter, and it locked out soon after. Dorrell performed what is called a “Freedom Hold” where he remained in the locked out position for a few seconds after his lift was given white lights by the judges.
Dorrell also attempted to deadlift 410 kilograms (903.9 pounds) a bit later, but was unsuccessful.
Cenk Koçak previously held the U140KG Drug Tested All-Time Deadlift World Record of 400.5 kilograms (883 pounds), which he set at the 2023 TPSSF Türkiye Powerlifting Şampiyonasi Sonuçlari.

Dorrell Petties came into the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2 with a bodyweight of 125.7 kilograms (277.1 pounds), meaning he could have added even more weight to his frame and remained in the 140-kilogram weight class. His performance also went really well, since he missed just two of his nine attempts — one bench press and one deadlift. He still equaled his previous Competition PRs in the squat and bench, while also setting new ones in the deadlift and total.
